Great insight into Jewish historical, political leadership. The discussion of sect in fighting in times of national distress (Roman invasion), rings a bell to me,given the current affairs in Israel. Will Israel go the way of the world or make a Stand.Will liberty continue to be proclaimed.Who shall we serve, the creature or the CREATOR!

Too many of israel's wealthy and powerful people have miserably failed to pass the leadership test in recent times. Likewise for American Jews. Thanks to Rabbi Soloveitchik for his learned contribution to a needed conversation about Jewish leadership.

Good guest. Minor correction: Queen Shlomtzion of the Kingdom (queendom, in her case) of Judea was the 2nd queen regnant of Jewry in Eretz Yisrael, after Queen Atalyah of the Kingdom of Judah.

Sadly our people do not know much about our Jewish History, the Torah etc. Menachem Begin was a humble man, cared about his people. He was not interested in power or wealth. I had the privilege of meeting him as a young girl. Leadership is about influence, not power!

The leaders of any country show the nature of the society ,society that is following God are blessed by a leadership that reflects this.We have the leaders we deserve godly society leads to godly leadership godless society like wise has godless leaders all we need to do is look at history society rise and fall but God stay true to himself he changes not. We change

It is true that Jews history is the history of humanity. It has religious culture, value, & the law that everyone needs to follow and respect ourselves & others, respect the law & law enforcement. I think God have chosen the Jews people to teach humanity based on their life history for the rest of the world. Therefore, even if Jews people are the most who faced the plights & suffers of this world, they would have been learning & teaching very meaningful family life for the rest of the world. We can't deny the Holy Bible history is their history that is leading the world under God to bring the better life for everyone. Whether we believe it or not Jews history is powerful. At the end of the day, when everyone respects the Ten Commandments, this world will be peaceful everywhere and that is a great freedom. It does mean the Christianity will go back to Judaism or the three main Christianity will be affected by Judaism.

Inspiring conversation. I do think however viewers are entitled to know who the biographer of Menachem Begin is who had very unkind things to say about his fellow Jews, and that is none other than Daniel Gordis. I have been shocked to hear the kind of language used by him and other well-known figures to disparage fellow Jews. It's shameful. It also makes enemies of Israel believe the nation is divided, and that is dangerous.

JNS should sell box sets of books like a 'barmitzva set', 'passover set' I think the rabbi's book along with the bible would make a grate gift for a bar/ bat mitzvah. Any thoughts

All leaders are there by the will of the Lord God good or bad. Good is a standard that even bad leaders believe that they are for how do we define a good leader

A wise man once said, 'all is well that ends well.' A comprehensive scope of history will tell you that Providence will provide for you until it doesn't. The Jewish People is nothing if not deterministic in it's approach to life and history. Given it's history, the Jewish People should know better. But, obviously, they don't. Providence!!? Yes, whatever, I guess. But, you also need the numbers. I hate to break it to you, as good as three dimensional chess players you think you are, the numbers are not on your side. You may even live to see it. Marx, Lenin, and Jabotinsky have thoroughly corrupted you. Go back, open the books of Pinsker, Einstein, and Trotsky. You owe it to yourselves and to your people. Hightime to do away with Bolshevism.

This is ridiculous: Soloveichik the scion of the glorified family, among the ones that nixed all competiton for leadership and set this oligarchy of a few Rosh yeshivah or admor families. Now he has the chutzpah to speak about true rabbinic leadership. Stop Judaic monopolies.

Not everyone has to be Chasidic, if its not for you than leave it alone. But don't disparage a sage a son of a sage simply because he is a sage
@ydj8081
@ydj8081 Год назад
@@cohenlabe1 first of all he is not chassidic. Second you are changing the subject. Each such ''sage'' has to be accountable for how many Jews did not learn the Torah because the sageness of their holy families pushed out other Jews.

Nonsense. His great uncle, Rabbi Joseph Soloveitchik, OBM, known as "the Rav" was the most famous and influential American Soloveitchik. But he wasn't the sole rosh yeshiva or the leader of the REITS Yeshiva. His "leadership" was due entirely to his intellectual influence as a teacher and writer. He did not influence or the the Chasidic world in a major way. The mainstream "frum" Orthodox were mostly influenced by the halachic decisions of Rabbi Moshe Feinstein, OBM.

@@ydj8081 chasidick in the sense of a Torah family Dynasty, where one holds position of Torah authority because of family history, I believe that is the basis of your complaint. And to that I say you dont have to accept that authority. And to say because his family held positions in Torah leadership and therefore he should not makes no sense.
@ydj8081

@@cohenlabe1 go to nochassidic Lakewood, Mir, or Brisk and you will find the same. It makes sense and you are changing the subject. Education must be equal opportunity not domain of elite ''gedolim''.
