Are you refering to Devarim 4:2,when explaining do not add or subtract with combination with Devarim 16:18-21 I'm trying to understand the Sages descerniment. Shalom!!

Great Shiur. Thanks to Rav Breitowitz. A question. Are there sources in Tanakh or Talmudic literature that provide reasons why the malkhut (monarchy) became hereditary, meaning passing by progeny from father to son. It seems odd. David hamelech was anointed by the great priest prophet Samuel. Wouldn't it be normal to have kings anointed (appointed, using current political jargon) by an assembly of priests or khakham gdolim, as long as they belong to Judah tribe. It could be anyone. It doesn't have to be descendant from the previous monarch. I have come to believe that Hereditary monarchy is contrary to normal functioning political system, if not to say contrary to judaim statem of government. Any idea? Thanks much.

@DiegoGarcia-nk8cj Sorry, I am not versed in Kabalah. Your comment or answer is tautological. It does't answer why the judaism monarchy became hereditary. That was my question. Please excuse my ignorance of Kabalah, I am not yet worthy to attempt to study it, for I know it is not something easy to comprehend. If you are well versed in it, please enlighten me as to the hereditary Malkhut that Judaism upholded, or else tell me what the Arizal said about the material malkhut (meaning the human sphere malkhut) and not the spiritual keter of Hashem. Thank you.

I'm not sure that a comparison can be made from the days of David Hamelech and the prophet Samuel A"h...in their days the anointing was made through prophecy. The midrash explains that when Samuel arrived to the home of Yishai, he wanted to anointed the brother of King David. THEN, through prophecy he was told not to annoint this brother rather David, This seems to be the nowadays reason we lament the loss of the Beit Hamikdash ...as well as the loss of prophecy because we can not foresee the future, whereas the prophet receives his or her prophecy from the all knowing I hope that I understood your question As far hereditary the tehilim states that the monarchy will never pass from the lineage of David ...the tribe of Judah was mentioned in the blessings of Yakov avinu.Lo yasur. The lineage was later narrowed to the seed of David.

@ronheeer Thanks very much for your insight and information on Malkhut. The hereditary monarchy in the life long duration of united monarchy than the divided one was marked by teŕrible kings and vassals, with few good ones in between, according to the Tanach. Another point that can be argued against hereditary monarchy, is the example that Moshe rabbenu provided by Not pushing his son Gershon to lead the Jewish nation. Instead, opting for Joshua to lead the nation to the promised land. Thanks again for responding. All the best tou you and Sabbath Shalom.

OBEDIENCE, so to speak, should be put in the following context: While G-D wants you to VOLUNTARILY and even JOYFULLY comply with his will expressed through the various sages rabbis and the Grand S, upreme court, this does NOT imply or mean any kind of SLAVERY or even SERVITUDE to your fellow Jew or human being - REGARDLESS of his qualifications ( Rabbi, Rebbe, Rav, Gaon, Tzaddik, PhD or MD!) It is an invitation to those who know to impart this knowledge so that everyone can reach and identify with The Creator in him and in others through - MUTUAL RESPECT! We must not forget that we were slaves and servants in ancient Egypt and STAY AWAY FROM doing what was done to us - to others! ☺️
