Considering the e-NV200 has a semi-active cooler, couldn't there be a way to hack it and make it constantly cool the battery pack - perhaps even with a beefier fan than it already has? I mean, technically it must be possible, and if doable, the e-NV200 with some soundproofing will be a VERY capable EV! A pity Nissan can't just fulfill its potential from the getgo. :)

It would be awesome to watch a race between Ioniq vs Kona. Especially now on winter conditions with “cold gate” on Kona and the good charging speed at Ioniq at any conditions. But should go for some trip with Ionity chargers to make some difference for charging speed on those cars.

The heat the batteries are generating should be harvested to power other devices. Exothermic crystallization type heat storage could be used to store the heat for use when battery actually needs heating!! It is mad that these vehicles are suffering charge throttling due to battery heating in sub zero conditions.

@@MrPascaldg Not totally useless - the cells cost a couple of dollars each, and weigh less than a kilogram per 100 W. Even if they don't contribute much to range, it's worth it to eliminate phantom drain. Every kWh it can make for itself is a kWh that you don't need to pay or wait for.
@Markle2k
@Markle2k 5 лет назад
@@ren2704 I don't believe the solar harvest numbers in Germany, even Munich, but down around the Mediterranean, sure. Monocrystalline cells are also not optimal for diffuse light. I am also sceptical about their longevity. A delete option credit would be welcome. It seems like a nice city car, though.

I would love to see a race between a Model X towing a trailer with the same cargo capacity as the e-Crafter and the e-Crafter. That might give a realistic comparison of vehicles one might choose as a delivery option.
@mistermister2085
@mistermister2085 5 лет назад
That would be an interesting head to head... i agree. Load them both with same weight of cargo.. then go. My guess is the Model X would destroy the ecrapper, but who knows. The Model X is more $$$, but at $80,000 usd the ecrapper isn't cheap...
@esunisen3862
@esunisen3862 5 лет назад
Model X would win easily, charging speed is much higher.
@johnway9853
@johnway9853 5 лет назад
@@esunisen3862 Well, my X75D uses 400 wh/km towing our cargo trailer at 90 kmh. That's 100 wh higher than the e-Crafter. My trailer adds 15ish minutes to each charge stop for the disconnect/reconnect. A race HERE would be even closer, as we only have one Supercharger within our delivery area so we're using Chademo everywhere we go so the charging times are a lot closer, but that of course would have to be part of an experiment that fewer would be interested in.

if you throw snow over the cargo floor, it will act as insulation and keep the heat in the battery pack... not a good idea. isn't the cabin heater system using the heat of the battery's like a lot of electric cars do? that way you can crank up the heater and cool down the battery better / quicker. just like with the cooling system of a convection combustion engine. using the heater in summer to prevent overheating the engine...

If I were to buy a van, that test unfortunately wouldn't persuade me to get one. That's not a working van man's day. 1. Parcel delivery. All day driving with lots and lots of stops. How much charging would you need to do and how much time would it take up out of your day?. How far out of the way would one need to go to find a charge point along with 1000s of other EV van drivers. If your finding charge points taken up in Norway where it's better, then we have no hope where I live in the UK.. 2. Last job I did driving a van from home to work would be any distance from 50 to 80 miles one way, could be out in the country at private houses with no customer at home all day (Building Conservatory Bases). How would you charge the vehicle up?. Then there would be many trips to the building merchant and concrete yard adding more milage, could be another 50 miles on top. Then another 50 to 80 miles back home. Would need over 200 miles battery charge minimum. There would be no time to waste charging the van up here and there all day long, wouldn't be practical at all. Sorry for the long post but vans are not there yet for the typical working van man's day.

If you don't think you need to try a loaded test, why not do a day of say 100 virtual drops? Plan out the exact same route for both vans, making sure you park at each destination, before setting off again, which would work in the Nissan's favour because it is smaller. You'd have to work out from the each van's load space that the Nissan would have to travel to a certain number of drops, when it returns to the start point to virtual reload to the remaining capacity of the VW. Then it would set off to the remaining destinations on its route. Eventually, both vehicles would return to their start points, having dropped the exact same loads to the same destinations. This would see whether the VW really is a better In-City despatch van, because it would be having to do less distance for the day's work. Just a thought. And no need for hundreds of banana boxes.
