Actually he had cramp in his leg and couldn't hit the brakes hard enough. He hadn't meant to go for it there. Terrible defending by lewis. I would have expected him to be defending like Perez was earlier in the race, not just leave the door wide open and let him past
bro i remember i lost it when he overtook there. i thought hamilton was gonna pass him back on the straight and he would lose. then again, thats just how verstappen is as a driver. goes for it at the first opportunity
Uh no. Those years had a fair championship fight between the drivers. 2021 was decided by the race director breaking the rules, and he got fired after so don't tell me I'm wrong
@@mcxix2742yeah he clearly was stressed about the situation and made some questionable choices. First they say lapped cars will not be allowed to overtake, and then suddenly they are allowed to? Lewis and Mercedes had all the rights to be upset, im happy for Max tho
That half of a lap of Checo's giving Max that 6 seconds or so back was hair raising. It was like watching some comeback kid disney sports movie from the 90s.
In the end it really meant nothing because Lewis left Max behind as soon as he cleared Checo and if it wasn’t for the caution Lewis would’ve beat max by at least 12 seconds
This was the first season I followed F1, and what a lucky man I was, to witness this amazing moment, I do remember that my galaxy watch notified me that my heart beat was too high, unbelivable finale.
Checo is an absolute beast. Some heavy lifting there. This season, Checo and Alonso has shown how F1 is a team sport. Not just in the pits but on track as well Give Checo a huge raise Red Bull! You owe him big time for this. And he deserves a giant slice of that celebratory cake.
Checo is a beast and an awesome teammate. I think next year he will find more consistency and continue to get more and more comfortable in the car that we all know is built for Max. Incredible job by Red Bull
I thought he showed some top notch racecraft. Direct message to Lewis that in equal cars, he won't just blaze through and keep winning with racers like Checo around.
Sergio Perez fully deserves all the praise he gets for defending like a true champion. He's knows for tyre management but today he's shown his worth as the 2nd driver for red bull. Gasly, Albon would nowhere be able to eat 6 seconds like Perez did. He kept his individual goals aside for team glory and he's helped max with the title
@@granofuru As Mikko explains, if Hamilton had another 6 or 7 seconds on Verstappen, he would've been able to pit during the safety car for free. You need 14 seconds to pit during the safety car, when it was called Max was 11 behind hamilton. an extra 6 seconds means hamilton WOULD'VE pit and still emerged P1, and probably kept his lead. Though it would've been a great last lap fight between Max and Lewis on fresh softs.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen Checo drive so hard when he was against Hamilton. You can truly see the passion he had for his teammate to go past his limit to give max the advantage. Enough to make a grown man cry

@@sallagjanos7288 It was his first year in a car that is notoriously difficult to drive. What did you expect? He made insane progression throughout the season, especially the last few races. I think they have a great number two driver moving forward.
@@stellar6643 Legendary wingmen absolutely can get demolished while doing their job. He managed to win Verstappen his maiden title while also denying Hamilton his 8th. That's legendary.
@@chrismdb5686 Despite Checo's massive help Verstappen still wouldn't have won without the safety car. And if Checo had not held up Hamilton at all, the safety car would still have produced the same situation. So in the end Checo's excellent work didn't influence the outcome at all. It was great entertainment for us viewers though. :-)
@@ArumesYT Checos defending definitely denied Hamilton the opportunity to take a pit stop and enter ahead of Verstappen mid race, so yeah Checo contributed to Max capitalizing from the safety car.
Still the most dramatic race I’ve ever witnessed. Nobody could’ve expected 2021 to go the way it did and if you witnessed it all it was really something.

Did not finish on the Podium, so was not fighting for the lead as did not have the pace. All he did was ruin Lewis's race. I don't care who won out of Lewis or Max, don't like either. But what Checo did in my mind was wrong. And I would say the same if Bottas did it to Max.
@Erik Netjes I said for me. I find it poor form. And have said it for years. It's not fair because another driver is interfering in 2 drivers racing. And the driver interfering is not on pace and does not finish on the podium. Anyway, it is my opinion.

Yea I would agree with that. Dunno what the stewards logic was for that one. This is my counter argument to the controversial decision at the end- there are always incorrect decisions taken by stewards- sometimes they work for you and sometimes they don’t. All part of the game. If you don’t want to let it get to that point, win the season convincingly is what I say.

Dunno why they (Mercs) can't accept that Verstappen was the best driver this year but they were the best team. Its exactly how I would rate the season.
Perez is such a legend after this race, first towing max in Q3 and then holding Hamilton up in the race, my hat is off for you Checo. And stunning driving from Max aswell
