Race SA hosted round 1 of Fastest in the Land at ODI Raceway on the outskirts of Pretoria on 3 February 2019. We spent the morning filming the racing for your enjoyment! Music I use: www.epidemicsound.com/?rt8iNw...
Of the 150+ people at the event 4 people are at the finish line. 3 are required to be there. 1 MSA official + 2 paramedics and a cameraman. All these people understand the risks involved.
Great content but the level of safety precautions taken at ODi is amateur to put it kindly😂😂 this place could be a world renowned high attitude testing ground for street drag cars but the whole operation is typically South African, I still love racing there tho🤣
@6:18 a car voming back while 2 is is coming down towards the line at full speed. Not cool and not safe where were the marshals? Having a smokebreak? You say keep it safe and then you allow this?
Yes that's true. I happen to be one of the RaceSA Marshall's and you will see me next to the bottom camera footage. @12:50. We usually do that for bigger events than the one in the video. I basically controlled the return traffic flow and we normally only release a car when the cars coming down have a passed a certain point.
Seems unprofessional. I've seen a handful videos from overseas. What are those skids for burning tires? Also why put enhanced engines on vehicles because there is no point putting such dead and buried mbws from 90s on a drag against Nissan GTR. People want to find out as per original make which car would be faster not these enhances vehicles you putting. I give you points however for putting a second camera towards the finish which is something most drag races don't do.
@@SkidMarksZA time and speed with the car is better we dont nu all the cars and ppl it will help and leave the sheet at the end its nice keep them coming.
Not 1 Gopro or helmet camera in all of SA?! Or was the news media using it for 6 pm news? C'mon you got to step it up. Not even going to ask about the drone footage....in car, dash cam....
We are not allowed to fly drones nearby an airfield and ODI has a airfield in the vicinity. As for the GoPro I’m slowly building up my equipment inventory...it’s on my wishlist
@@CITRUS-- UHm look at the track conditions, i see dust and pretty much a stock asphalt track. ( the video said "FASTEST IN THE LAND") i think it should be renamed to (the joke of the world).... FWD honda's & Neon's all around the world doing better times than this so called fastest in the land.
It's like going back in time, when nobody had Gopro, drones, in dash or helmet cams. No prepped tracks or asphalt or starting tree. It's like African's just found out about racing....oh wait it's in S.A. and 2019?! Now it makes perfect sense!!!! Fastest in Africa's Land, that's about it. Ffss it's almost 2020 and they still racing like it's 1940's.....
