Hello everyone, it is a BIG milestone for the channel today! You’re about to watch my 300th video on CR Sim Racing. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d make this many sim racing videos when I first started this hobby back in the autumn of 2020.
When I made my 200th video around 18 months ago, I revisited the combo where it all started for me. But today, I thought I’d return to the sim that really got me hooked… RaceRoom Racing Experience.
In my early days of sim racing, it was RaceRoom that helped me discover how much fun this crazy hobby could be. So for this special video, I’m back in RaceRoom for this Formula 4 race at Zandvoort.
I’ll be starting from P9, but I’m not setting any targets. I’ve not had chance to practice before the race, so I’ll need to learn as I go. Can RaceRoom ranked racing still deliver the goods in 2024? Let’s find out…

300 videos, that's massive and you've passed 6k subs as well. And a well deserved 5th place to top it all off. Huge congratz all round. Only at 25 videos myself, a long way to go.

We’ve all got to start somewhere! When I was at 25 videos, I never even imagined I’d reach 100, never mind 300. It was only going to be a temporary hobby while we were in lockdown and couldn’t go out much. It’s a long and slow journey, but definitely keep at it!

Hahaha 🤣 definitely the peril of single monitor sim racing. I honestly thought I was right up against the pit wall at the time, so certainly wasn’t expecting the three wide! Glad classic RaceRoom brought back some fond memories of our early days in the rig. I wish I could say that Zandvoort was looking as beautiful as ever 🤣

Thank you Eric! Yeah I was a bit more cautious in this one, not having had the practice time to get familiar with it. But given how a lot of people crashed out, and several of the leaders got DQ’d for incident points, I reckon it paid off to hang back!

Great staff! Great performance and effort! Staying out of trouble pays off the most of the times 👍💪! On older videos some accused you for not defending hard and why you do that ! Well videos like that give the answer ! Staying out of trouble pays more than to get involved on an incident most of the times 😅 ! Keep pushing!

Yes, staying out of trouble has always been my main goal! I do defend a bit harder in ACC these days, because I’m so used to the car and the physics. But no chance was I going to over-defend in this race, with zero practice… would have been a recipe for disaster 🤣 by the end of the race, my pace was really good. But I was learning as I went, so didn’t want to take any risks. Cheers! 😃

Great video and a great race too, Chris. Thanks again for posting all 300 of them, although I can't claim to have watched all 300. Funnily enough, iRacing was down for maintenance yesterday, so I jumped back into RaceRoom and took the Tatuus F4 for an AI race around Nordschleife. I had forgotten how good the Tatuus is. Great fun, although I only did this because there were no online races timetabled 😞

Yeah, sadly you need to time it right to find a ranked lobby with decent numbers. I got lucky with this one, but when I signed back in the next day to do another one, there wasn’t any race with more than 3-4 drivers in. It was great to get this one in though, really enjoyed it. Cheers!

I think you have to time it right to get a decent-sized grid Rob. I happened to get lucky when I hopped in for this one. I really enjoyed it, so I went back in the next day to do another and there was hardly anyone in the lobbies. Was great fun to get back in it though 😃

Raceroom was the first sim racing game (excluding games like GT, F1, Forza Motorsport, etc) that I ever played, the game was really fun and still is, I don't really play it since I play ACC and dabble with LMU, but when I did play RR, I really enjoyed it. It also helped me get used to ACC because of it's similarities. Great video and driving as always! Your commentary always gets me hooked, you should consider commentating a sim racing championship or something, it's much better than some of the commentators you here on normal TV, some of them sound like dead zombies... P.S: I'm not sure if you do car requests for your sim racing videos, but if you do, I would love to see you try out the Porsche 911 carrea in ACC, it's a car I love using and I would love to see you do a one-off race with it or something like that. Some people struggle with it, but for me, it's really smooth and has good responsiveness. Great video, can't wait to see more!

Thank you, I’ll bear thar in mind about the car recommendation for ACC! I’ll stick with the Lambo for a bit longer as I’ve got so familiar with it, but when I come to try a new one, I’ll give that Porsche a go!

@@chrisrogerssimracing proudest moment so far... nipped to the toilet after quali came back was putting more fuel in the car when I came out of the set up screen im sat in the pits watching everyone sail past while I'm sat there... ended up 12th out of 17. Proper chuffed with that 🤣👍

Well sadly R3E resigned on developing UI and in-game HUD, which is IMO what discourages most of the newcomers and results in mostly empty ranked servers apart from rookie ones, which then discourages other people... anyway from those sims I've played (R3E, AC, ACC, rf2, AMS2) R3E and AC suit me best by miles when it comes to FFB feeling...

The in-game HUD really is poor. I was using Rehud, which I’ve found to be pretty good. However it doesn’t reproduce well on screen recordings, always flickering, no matter what FPS I set. So while I drive with Rehud displaying, I don’t screengrab the overlay.

Haha, I’m not sure what gave you the idea I was apologising for it mate, I don’t recall saying anything like that in the vid! In fact, I was delighted with the 5th place… I thought it was a great result, and I said as much in the final summary. I just played it a bit cautiously in the early laps while I got to grips with it, that’s all. Cheers 😃
