ACC | Cars That Go BUMP in the Night! LFM GT3 @ Watkins Glen

I’m away on holiday this week, but that’s doesn’t mean I’ve not got a treat for you! This special bonus video features a recent Go Setups GT3 Sprint race I did in Assetto Corsa Competizione on Low Fuel Motorsport.
This is one of the best ACC LFM races I’ve had this year, and it’s another first for my RU-vid channel… it’s my first ever Assetto Corsa Competizione night race! Yep, the sun has gone down and I’m taking on Watkins Glen with only my headlights to rely on.
Now, Watkins Glen is a track I know well, but we’re going to find out just HOW well in this race! I’m starting from P11 on a grid of 26, but I’m only a few tenths off the top six, so I’ve definitely got the pace to challenge here.
So it’s my first ACC night race. Will it be a night to remember, or will it just end up being a nightmare? Let’s find out…

Brilliant move at the end there. 9 times out of 10 it ends in a smash, so the pair of you did well to avoid what should have been inevitable.

Yeah, 9 times out of 10 I wouldn’t even have considered trying it. But we’d gone through that loop two wide twice already, safely, so I had confidence we’d both leave each other just enough space. It was tight, for sure!

Yeah, normally I’d never even have attempted it. But we’d already gone two wide through there twice, and it was clean both times, so I had confidence we’d both leave each other just enough space. It was tight… and probably not a move I’ll try again in a hurry!

Haha cheers, to be honest I’d never usually go for that pass, but we’d already gone through the loop two-wide twice and both left each other the space, so I felt it was do-able. But yeah, normally I wouldn’t be that aggressive 🤣 cheers

That last lap overtake on the busstop could've ended very badly but both you and D. Grant were driving very respectevily. Great work and another great video!

Yeah, I’ve seen so many races ended with people trying that move, so I knew it had to be really precise. And because we’d already done that corner two-wide twice, I felt able to do it safely. Such a relief it didn’t end in disaster!

Wow! Wow! Wow! Three battles through the Bus Stop! And nobody died! Great race, Chris. I love Watkins Glen. It's fast and flowing and fun to drive. But whenever I race there, I always seem to have some sort of grief! My last attempt saw me get DQed for speeding in the pits after getting punted just before entering the pit lane. Hopefully my next go at the Glen will be more like yours!

Haha, what an unlucky way to get a DQ! I love Watkins Glen too, I always have good pace but usually struggle to find ways to overtake there. However the Lambo felt a bit quicker than when I used to drive the BMW or Ferrari… gave me that bit extra oooomph needed!

Thank you. I’ve seen so many races end in disaster trying that move, but the other guy was driving impeccably safely. So it was a rare chance to try it. I doubt I’ll try it again any time soon 🤣

Haha yeah! McLarens and Ferraris are pretty much the only cars people choose in LFM these days!

Another great race, Chris! Couple things: Did you consider reporting the T1 incident? I understand if they messaged an apology after the race and all would be well, but the rear-ending seemed a little more than an honest miscalculation on their end. Great composure and saves throughout the race! I know for certain I'd crash out in any of those scenarios just by watching them in this video. Did you notice if Watkins Glen has worse tire deg than the other tracks?

Hey, actually I didn’t think to protest in the end, only because I didn’t lose any position or time. I did get some rear damage but it didn’t seem to slow my lap times. But I agree, it was a very big miscalculation of T1 speed… he would have seen my brake lights on, and he had plenty of space to react. But luckily, no harm done. After that, it was an excellent race. Cheers 😃

how does ACC and low fuel motorsport work? is it easy to set up?

It’s pretty simple yeah. When you join, your LFM account gets paired with your Steam log-in. Then you just register for a race, get the server name/password from the registration screen and join the split you’ve been assigned. You do have to get a licence first though, which is a hot lap test on a special licence server…. a certain number of clean laps, each within a specified lap time.
