Never pin-pointed the reason but never liked her. Being sued over her Pet Food Brands didn't surprise me. Traditional Mexican women say she knows nothing of making any type of decent Mexican food. Advertising that they lost their home to the CA fires, but then gloating that they were given a 4 million dollar home by Wolfgang.. Still filming shows from there. What a great loss. Made me wanna vomit. Never heard a thing about her ever doing any Contribution work.
The caramelized onion thing is definitely a lie, but as the vid said, this lie is perpetuated by many chefs. Hell, even 45 minutes is sometimes not long enough. But I totally agree on the rest.
The garbage bowl is clutch. It’s amazing for people who don’t use canned and frozen everything. If you cook everything from scratch… you’ll have a lot of trash. How is it gross? It’s like compost on your countertop… she cooks for the American home not for her Italian home.
Yes, the garbage bowl is a great idea. But don't send all those food scraps to the landfill. It creates methane which is a major greenhouse gas. Instead, collect it and compost it. It's a win/win for the environment. It reduces greenhouse gases AND makes plants healthier to absorb more CO2.
@@itsme-rt7nz Yeah, I keep a compost bowl on the counter, not a garbage bowl. Other than that don't really create that much garbage while cooking. Cans, jars and boxes get recycled, meat fat/scrap goes in the garbage disposal.
@@itsme-rt7nz I have no problem with that. Plants need CO2 to thrive. For those who say CO2 is a form of poisonous gas, they need to know CO2 makes plants grow.
That's exactly what I just commented. I love my garbage bowl and afterwards it goes straight to the compost. Rachel Ray is the first person that I saw do this and I love it!
I can relate to your pain. I have Whiplash Syndrome. It affects my whole body. Aches and pains in my joints, stiff neck muscles that never release, even the skin on my thighs hurt. I now have to buy bags of precut veggies whenever possible. I also have a food processer with a disk for shredding. I just throw my whole veggies in there. It sure helps mince onions perfectly. I don't have the energy to stand that long to prep, chop and mince. And then cook. I have a food processor, blender, stick blender, bread maker and an Instant Pot. And they are Godsends, too. These items really shorten my time in the kitchen. Pity, too. I love being in the kitchen all day, making fancy meals. But, my body won't let me. 😞
Agreed. But the truth remains that, for people without hand mobility issues, it makes much more sense to buy fresh produce and learn how to cut it up! It’s healthier and cheaper, and better for the environment. It only takes a few more minutes if you learn to do it properly.
They did say it saves time in the kitchen.... What they're saying is true as well. It's a matter of choice. I used to buy frozen veggies, too. Until they started tasting like metal....
If your hamburger patties fall apart when you’re making them, you’re using ground beef (or worse, ground turkey) that is too lean. You need an 80%-20% mix. Burgers are NOT diet food.
@@FrankD71864 some ground turkey still has a good fat ratio. Harder to find sometimes because people tend to want to buy lean turkey for diet foods, but it's out there.
We use something like the "garbage bowl" for compost. I put all the scraps in the bowl and when it's full or at the end of the day we put it in the compost. We put it in the fridge so there is no smell. We wash the bowl with the dinner dishes. We cut our garbage production a lot by doing this.
How are her ingredient choices "lies"? You may not like them, I may not like them, but they're not "lies". Do what you do with other recipes containing ingredients you don't like: don't make it!
As a disabled person, I’m a huge fan of the garbage bowl. It saves energy from having to go back and forth to the garage can multiple times. Also, I don’t always use precut vegetables and fruit, but a do quite a bit, especially if I’m not feeling very well. It nice to have that option for those of us who are low on energy or who have lower dexterity in the kitchen. It not always just a convenience issue. Sometimes it’s a disability issue, and not recognizing that is ableist.
I do like the garbage bowl . I deal with low energy because of hemochromatosis. That helps a lot. I also sit in my chair in my living room with cutting board on my lap to do my meal prep .
Just a thought, did it ever occur that you could have the trash moved closer to where you’re working? If you could not do so yourself I’m sure with asking someone would have. Besides at the end you’re still now taking everything to the garbage. Alternatively I do see your point. You’re not lugging a large bin to the corner of a room you’re simply carrying a bowl.
@@DeathbyDawn141 My grandma, born 1889, always had a "garbage bowl." Sometimes just an old newspaper for the scraps when cooking. What scraps she didn't use to make broth got fed to the pigs. LOL
Honestly I think their opinion is just wrong no matter how you look at it. When I worked in a commercial kitchen and did a lot of prep shifts I'd be chopping washing dicing produce all morning so it would be ready to go in the walk in fridge for lunch and dinner. Everyone was REQUIRED to use a garbage bowl. Ours were those big 8 qt containers you see in every restaurant kitchen. And still, I was running to the compost to empty it every 20 minutes or so. It was required mise en place because it kept the place clean and organized, not because it necessarily saved time. Could've easily piled that stuff on the table next to my cutting board I was still wiping down the whole counter after prep regardless. Translate that to the home kitchen. What you cook, what ingredients you prep, it varies a lot more each time you cook. Your kitchen isn't as organized, it shouldn't need to be. So putting scraps in a bowl and throwing them out at the end removes all these extra steps in between the steps that you're actually less familiar with. So you can pay more attention to the new things and your cooking technique. Less likely to burn something or forget an ingredient etc. And having ADHD this is one of a few things I learned in that kitchen that I do at home because it means you don't have to think about as many things. Like literally every mise en place you do it's not a time saver because it speeds up that step, it saves time because it simplifies the process of cooking. The simpler it is, the easier it is. The easier it is, the less time it'll take you because you aren't a chef or a line cook. If the actual problem is the size of the bowl like they seem to suggest, use a smaller bowl if you're just cooking for 1-2 people? How is that not obvious? I don't understand what the writer of this script was thinking.
A certain family member was a fan so they made a few meals. I said 3 strikes and no more , they were the most disgusting food to come out of our kitchen and now that family member is no longer allowed to cook in my kitchen
@@MrFunkadeIic the truth was it was my mother and you always have to be kind to your mother but I remember growing up and how her food sucked and before she moved into my house she took a cooking class at the community center so I gave her the benefit of the doubt cuz sometimes I get tired of cooking for these ungrateful people so if she had improved then have at it but the teacher at the center was ray fan so her skills hadn't improved
Half of it was hate on everything tasty, and the other half was hate on her shopping choices. Okay say maybe a small bit was focused on selling her own product, but still... I would destroy that casserole any day of the week if you put it in front of me. 😌
It’s because she’s a perfect example of a subpar at home cook who passes herself off as a chef who knows what she’s doing. She’s part of guy fieri’s team.
I agree. What the heck. I know there’s many people in this world who would love this stuff. And a greasy salad she talked about: what about oil and vinegar dressing. Most dressings are oily. I won’t be subbing to this channel
I agree with most of your list. The "garbage bowl" however, works. Obviously you empty it throughout the prep, but it definitely helps saving time. Thanks for the video!
Never really thought of her as a "chef". And could see where some chef's could take offense. But you have to admit. She was a great host that helped propel the cooking movement foreward. As well as inspiring more accredited chefs, to get into quick day to day meals on tv, That don't involve hotdogs. Don't think many people mistook her for a Michelin or James Beard award recipient. Nor do I think she tried to portray herself as such. Do feel anytime someone can convince somebody else, to not live on frozen dinners and takeout. But give cooking a shot,is a plus. This she did well. All have to start someplace. Better late than never.
When my brother worked at Barnes and Noble she was there for a book signing and she treated her staff and the B&N employees like trash. Her assistant told my brother that Rachel Ray is like that when cameras aren't filming her. Her products aren't good.
I bought 2 Rachel Ray spatulas a couple of months ago. I liked them because they were turquoise and looked like they were made of nylon or silicone or something plastic like. (There was no information on the package stating their composition) They aren’t very good. They’re the thin, slotted spatulas, I think they’re known as fish turners in some places. Obviously meant to use in a frying pan. Yet when I used them, they kinda melted on the edges. Like they weren’t made for using in a pan. And it wasn’t a super hot pan either. Medium low heat. I guess I’ll just go ahead and order the stainless steel ones now.
Yes, during the pandemic I thought I needed a better cookware set & purchased a RR 14 piece nonstick set. I DEFINITELY would not recommend it! The handles are too long and come up too high. There have been several times that I could've knocked them off the stove if I wasn't paying attention. I think it's a really poor design.
When my brother worked at Borders Books she was there for a book signing. Treated all the staff with professionalism and kindness, was a joy with each customer. Her own staff seemed devoted to her. Rachael even washed several of the Borders employees cars in the parking lot before she left and everyone had a hundred dollar bill tucked into the pages of the free book she gave them all!
I’ve never once heard her say or insinuate that you don’t throw out the trash in the garbage bowl after you’re done cooking. We all know that’s a part of the clean up process. We never see her wash the dishes either, but we know they get washed and that we need to wash ours. Come on.
The cattiness of this click bait vid was amazing, even for mashable standards. Just because you dont like it or cant do it doesn't make it a lie. Then you sited a study that said much of the imported evoo is adulterated and said her evoo was "most likely just oo". Really?, did that study tell you that. You people get sued mush? Just wondering.
Racheal was never a top cook. I've heard of bad crap about her behind the scenes and she made me not like her more after that "Pozole" recipie she did.
having a "garbage bowl" is completely logical and convenient lol WHAT? personally I just move my garbage can to a more convenient spot while cooking but it's the same thing. also you wouldn't want to mix food scraps with paper and plastic if you're using food waste for garden compost
This woman is NOT a chef lol she was a pretty TV personality that won the hearts of people by being relatable and making simple recipes. As her cookware empire built her brand and her bank account her team let her create these monstrosities because they couldn't tell her what to do anymore lol
@@tave2034 I never said that I was great, the fact of the matter is that the FN has ppl who look good on camera putting together dishes that others have already done the prep work for . If you're too blind to figure this out; well then I guess the FN is for ignorant ppl like yourself. Enjoy your day.
Why are you hating on the garbage bowl? It's useful!! Not just because you can put a bowl or mini bag on your counter so it's quicker, but also then you don't have to accidentally touch other garbage from the bigger lot in the middle of cooking.
Look, anyone who is as hard working and has the drive she does, deserves her success. She worked hard to get where she is, nothing illegal or immoral about that. Stay well and live free or die.
I cook diced hot dogs mixed with hominy, poblano, red onions, jalapeños or serranos (the more, the merrier), cilantro, sour cream and chicken stock - more if I want it soupy, less if I want it stewy. It’s absolutely delish! And I own her orange garbage bowl, which I use constantly … but not for garbage.
Her food was not good and her $40 a day travel show was trash, but there is something to be said for a TV cook using pre-chopped veggies and canned ones in a country swimming with processed, nutrition-deficient food. We can't all make great meals from scratch every night, but getting quick & tasty veggies on our plates is a noble enough goal for working families. It's nice that she tried to make that concept approachable for busy mothers (you know her intended audience was not masculine dudes who didn't want to or know how to cook for their families).
Mean and petty! I saw boiled eggs for sale in my grocery! If someone wants to buy them, I don’t give a flip. Give me a break! Making fun of when she puts stuff in the trash? Who cares when she puts stuff in the trash? She has limited time on a TV show. Don’t watch her show if you don’t like her ideas!
I'm no huge fan of Rachael Ray, but whoever made this video doesn't cook much. The garbage bowl in the kitchen, or leftover paper bag from the grocery store, is a massive time saver!
I must admit every person has their own different ways of making/preparing food, but for me Rachel Ray's recipes are not appetizing. People complaining about the trash bowl and pre-cut vegetables.... 🤦🏼♀️ Please listen and pay attention: they clearly state they approve of them but think it's unnecessary to use a HUGE bowl if you're going to empty it right away. It's gross to leave out waste on your table or anywhere else in your kitchen for more than half a day. At least, in my opinion. As for the veggies, they also give a correct opinion about why fresh produce is better. They're not entirely wrong here. It's really a matter of preference or choice. And if that's the only thing they got "wrong", then they're correct in stating she gives lousy advice on food.
I know pre-cut veggies is more expensive but I don't 24 hour care aide. I only get help a few hours per week. And sometimes I like to cook. I have nerve damage on my whole left side. President cut veggies helps me alot
Pro Tip: A lot of precut veggies tend consist of vegetables that are nearing the end of it's shelf life. Buy up a small bag of onions and keep at room temp, 2lbs of carrots and celery stalk can be kept in the vegetable crisper for a few weeks before they at least start turning, peppers and other soft high moisture vegetables may last around 2 weeks. Nearing the end of their shelf life; cut them up as desired, line them on a baking sheet with plenty of space between, and freeze. Once frozen, bag them and you've basically got yourself IQF veggies ready for on the fly cooking, good for maybe 2-3 months. Or roast them all off, cover with water, simmer for a few hours, and you've got yourself vegetable stock that you can also freeze for a very long time.
Anyone who did follow these recipes deserves exactly what they got. But I'm sure they learned something as well, and hopefully they grew from the experience and knew better from then on.
I used to watch her after school when I was like, 12. I haven't watched her videos since then and I cannot belive that preteen me legit thought this woman was a culinary genius.
Having a garbage bowl is excellent. You save the scraps from vegetables and fruits and use them in the compost pile or your garden outside. I dont have a problem with Miss Ray. She is an excellent cook. Too bad everyone needs a step by step by step instruction manual. This looks like another cancel culture garbage to me.
Haven't seen her show for years not because I'm hating I just haven't seen it. I recall back then a lot of people, "expert chefs," were attacking her. I thought for the most part that was over. Wrong! Keep on Keepin' on Rachel!
I never heard of a garbage bowl before. Now I appreciate even more my habit of using a small trash can in my kitchen. My garbage goes directly into the trash and If needed I can bring it to me if I am cutting at the sink. Being it is a small trash can the trash goes out every day.
EVOO….not so healthy when using med-high heat, as its low smoke point means it can change from healthy to unhealthy fairly quickly. Avocado oil is a much healthier option in a skillet because of its higher smoke point. EVOO is preferred raw.
I am chronically ill and can attest that precut veggies and garbage bowls are a life saver. Also now I am hungry and want to see what half the recipes maligned in this episode actually taste like.
Idk what you all are talking about. The trash bowl is awesome. I use it all the time. I throw everything in there while I’m cooking so I don’t have to go back and forth to the trash can. Then throw it all away at the end of cooking. It’s so convenient.
I love my purple RR garbage bowl. I put a store bag in it, and it, and when full at the end of the day, I throw the small bag of garbage in the trash can. Quick and easy
... love to cook ...loved to watch Rachael Ray ... only noticed that she always had fresh picked and ready to go produce ...that I could never afford ...still use the garbage bowl idea today ... her Uptown Tuna casserole is on the menu ...the reason I came tonight ...
She’s not a chef and she doesn’t claim to be. But, if you watch Food Network, you would know that she was on Food Network before she got given her show by Oprah.
Not everyone is Giada but it's hard to listen when wanting low calorie eating. Hotdogs? Frozen fish sticks? All the cheese? More cheese? And what's so hard about moving the garbage can next to where you stand while making dinner?
I don't watch her show but this vid comes off as some sort of time killer. What were you guys doing? Sitting around thinking, how do we get more views by trashing someone else? Congratz I guess, you got me to watch.
People are talking about prechopped ingredients being good for arthritis. Not denying that, but also, her shtick used to be 30-minute meals. I don’t have arthritis, but if I cut all those things myself, a 30-minute meal would turn into a 2-4 hour meal, and it would be midnight before I ate. Sure you could use a food processor to help but not everyone has one-I didn’t for the longest time. Is it more expensive? Perhaps but it’s the trade off. Do you want to be in & out of the kitchen in no time flat, or do you want to be a cheapskate?
I’m not a fan of Rachael Ray, but these aren’t lies and I can’t hate on a cook who’s had to put out recipe content within a strict set of conditions - 30 minute meals - for a long time. The hotdog salad has precedent in German/Austrian/Swiss cuisine where a version is known as wurstsalat. Don’t hate a cook for trying and failing sometimes.
Though I subscribed. I won't watch old stuff that happened long ago. This was a bit harsh, and not called for. You took old shows, when she was much younger and these were old shows. I have a problem. Lot things people cook is not for me, but I don't go around critiquing them. Fact caramelized onions you cook till they caramelize in the pain. Sweating a onion is different. You showed you are a hater. Gee anybody with sense can see she was much younger, these was old shows, way before she married. We all live and learn. I might not cook a lot of things. I won't go critiquing them. Especially when a idiot can see these shows she did was very old. No I won't watch you picking on old videos. Grow up. Or at least find new shows to complain about. Positivity always, respectfully. Vj.

Lo que pasa es que su cocina es barata. No necesariamente tienes que hacer una súper platillos para deleitar el paladar y si tengo prisa por cuestiones de trabajo o algo, está bien alguna de sus recetas.
Why are you guys hating on Rachel. Nobody is perfect. I like the garbage bowl idea. As to whether or not you think some of her recipes are gross is a matter of opinion. I like her. She seems pretty real to me.
Me, too. I don't see why some people think it's crazy. There are so many different ways to say something's 'Yum-O'. Delish, delicious, tasty, yum, yummy, succulent, etc. I mean, who cares if she says 'Yum-O'? And they call Rachael 'petty'. 🙄 After I cook for my mom, she says my food is "Yummy-delish". Nothing wrong with it. That's her way of saying she loved the food. Hey, any compliment pertaining to yummy is fine with me.
There is a classic Italian recipe for risotto that uses an entire bottle of Barolo for the liquid. I’ve never tried it. And yes, fish and cheese NEVER in Italy.
Who cares what size bowl Rachel uses! I actually like the idea, I don’t often think to grab a bowl. Cooks that are short on time or not able to chop buy precut veggies, that’s why they’re available at the market.. I now keep a tub of chopped green onions in my freezer. Rachel should be commended for trying to make cooking fun with helpful tips and shortcuts. She’s not a culinary chef and I’ve never heard her say she was. Calling it lies is a bit much.
06/25/2021 I really have never watched her program, although I do know who she is. I'm more amazed that anyone's still eating or feeding their children 🌭 hot dogs.🤢🐀
