yeah sure just fine. it isnt like woman are unhappier every year. Once she hits the wall and cant have kids she will regret it. Money doesnt bring happiness. But at least all that money will give her a nice nurse to take care of her since she wont have anyone to take care of her.

You saying she may need a nurse as she becomes older is ridiculous. But if that's what happens. So be it. Our job in life is not to dictate another person's choices with our opinions.

There are people who have had children and still end up being taken of by a nurse alone especially since none of their children would have anything to do with them or perhaps can't have anything to do with them because their children died or something. So having a lot of money won't bring a person happiness but having children is no guarantee of happiness either. All a person has to do is look around society or even their own neighborhood to see that. I think Rachel deciding not to have children out of concern she may be a bad mother is very thoughtful and considerate. Plus, I am guessing there are plenty of people in her family as well as her husband's side of the family that are having children of their own so it is not like their genes or family names will die out or anything like that If Rachel and her husband don't ever have children. Parenting is a major full-time job requiring sacrifices and not everyone is cut out for it.

People cannot always be trusted to be nicer to their kids OR their parenrs. Nothing in this world is guaranteed, a person either loves and cares for someone or they don't and can tell the other to take a LONG walk regardless of what someone has done for them. And then there are those things that happen beyond a person's control such as losing all children due to some unforseen accident or illness, or a senseless act of violence done by someone else. These things happen which is why a person can have children and still end up not having them around in the end.

It doesn't matter if they are cut out to be a parent or not. I'm sure I would make a great doctor, that doesn't mean I want to. People can live their life however they want to and they don't have to reproduce if they don't want to. Even if they would make a good parent, maybe they feel it will ruin their life? It would ruin mine for sure because I have better things to do.

I think it does matter whether a person is cut out to be a parent or not. From what I have seen a person needs to be stable, consistent, patient, and responsible as well as having the time and desire to be a good parent and some people simply do NOT have these qualities whether they want to be a parent or not. Extreme drug addicts, certain socio or psychopaths and people in a constant vegetative state come to mind. You don't know that you would make a good doctor if you don't have basic things such as a good eye for noticing issues or problems that may be symptoms of a much larger or more serious underlying problem or a desire to do whatever is necessary to help someone with a problem or issue or a general ability to properly care for someone as well as preferably a steady hand.

She seems very happy and fulfilled with the life she has, children are not a prerequisite for a full life. Truthfully I don't know why it's anybody's business but hers and her husband's.

You made very good points, and that is so great that you are educated and doing what you want. I know plenty of women, and educated business women to, that don't have kids. So there's definately alot more out there. We just don't know them, or hear about them. 😃

I never understood this mentality either. While our society doesn't exactly favor single, young moms, on food stamps, and getting government help, it still seems to be looked at more favorably than to be a woman who chose to focus on career and education instead of having children. I'm 35, single, educated, have a good job, no kids, and I'm well traveled. I'm sure to many I'm seen as damaged because I'm alone.

@@JG-tk7cn...and if you are married..they assume you don't have a great relationship. But my husband and I have a wonderful relationship because we have time to invest in our relationship instead of putting it on hold for several decades until the kids are out of the house.

@@sburris65 That's something that does scare me. I do feel like for most that the minute they have a kid, that they lose really the relationship that they had before. I know this isn't always the case, but it often is.

@@JG-tk7cn ..I have seen it so many times. I have friends who spend weekends apart because one kid has one sport and one has another. It's like the just put that relationship on hold and make their kids the center of the universe. And I don't want to do that. My husband is the most important part of my life. The loss of my freedom and loss of a relationship are the 2 main reasons I never wanted kids.

That's something people don't think about. I'm not saying everyone needs to have kids. But to say it's because they want everything they earn in life to be just for them, is a young person's mentality. They think the youth will be forever and having all the time and money in the world will last forever. Then one day they'll wake up and they'll be 50 years old, possibly have ailing health and fewer people to help them over time unless they pay for them. I'm not saying have kids so they can take care of you when you're old, but having a family is a good place to find support.

@@MaryDavidson911 Actually one of them will likely afford nice nursing care and die while feeling comfortable and fulfilled that they did everything in life and lived to the fullest while they were young. And the other might be abandoned because their kids are too busy with their own lives and tossed their aging parents into some low rated nursing home and then started to bicker about who gets what money when they are about to die. Seen it too many times to count. My grandmother had 6 daughters and I was the only one who actually stepped up to help her before she died. Everyone dies alone, even if you had people around you... you die alone. They don't feel what you do nor do they even care. I would much rather live life to the fullest while I am young and in decent shape than waste it all slaving away to children. Getting old is going to be shitty either way and there is no guarantee to even reach that age at all. So waste your life and hope your kids will care for you and be there in old age? Or live it up and afford some nice care later with all the extra money you have made. Having kids just so they can care for you but instead abandon you in a shitty place where you are abused... thats ironic.

Probably have to disagree with that. At 65 I've known hundreds of parents through the years. Some of the worst were people that had 1-2 kids that didn't spend much time with their kids, screamed incessantly, and hit their kids. I've known parents with 4 or more kids that are great parents that raised intelligent, loving, hardworking kids. I have also known many single mothers that did a great job raising their kids and a few that did a lousy job. So, I think your comment is a bit of stretch to claim that the best parents have the fewest kids. Watch some videos with parents that get their kids taken away because of neglect, abuse etc. Many of them have 1-2 children. So, in theory it might make sense that the fewer children one has, the easier it would be. In many cases that is true. In many cases not true at all. Lots of factors go into making a good or bad parent not just the number of children one has.

I know plenty of 70 80 year olds who never had kids or even marriage. They are fine and happy and even have happy relationships and social lives besides us as family (my 80 year old aunt has a serious boyfriend) and they are beyond ok. If she really wants to she can always adopt but she doesn't want to. She's got 80 million dollars, a great show, a happy marriage and puppies are her kids. She's happy that's all that counts.
