Rachael has such wisdom and grace; I appreciate the way she’s able to address these difficult topics. She really needs her own talk show like Ellen or Tyra.

Ellen had a toxic environment at her show. She was demeaning and bratty to her staff. She apologized but it was more like “I can’t be cheery 24/7, we have work to get done”. Trust me.... her staff ain’t buying it. And her loyal fans are very upset. They feel duped. I don’t watch Ellen because it’s kind of exclusively for women; but that’s the scoop guys! Rachel has proven that she’s A-1 Classy!

I think for the people giving rachel sh*t about needing an apology I think she was more trying to take a stand for the issues within the show. I have to say that Chris told the truth when saying that there was a time when Confederate, Plantation parties seemed like nothing. I grew up in that time. The school song was Dixie, they had a Confederate flag. The BLACK drum major marched in PROUD leading the pack. I was angry as my parents did a wonderful job teaching us black history at home. Most of the other students black and white, just keep singing. I still remember being asked the question by black and white what my anger was about. Firing this one man means absolutely nothing if you are not going to educate people as to why things are wrong. I do not know for certain that the bachelorette was not as clueless as to the people that I went to school with. I want to believe that this is what Chris meant by his statement. We need to educate all involved and accept the apology unless there is a history of racial behavior. Rachel who is a well-informed, powerful black woman has accepted the apology. She has also proved that she is good at her job. It really irritates me that the solution to everything these days seem to be to FIRE somebody. Why not request a seat at the table with the Franchise owners, Spell out what is needed to make everyone feel included, and move forward. What is not acceptable is the people sending hate messages. Unfortunately, common sense is not common. ,

The problem is firing someone is still a network or company decision rather than a public decision. Companies aren’t concerned with educating people or opening a dialogue. Their concern is money so all they do is distance themselves from scandal to keep making money. One issue is despite the massive influence the media can have on its citizens (I know people try to claim tv doesn’t influence people, but it fills in the gaps for things you don’t know or aren’t exposed to and people do form conclusions about groups of people they’ve never met based on what they see on tv) the media is not technically responsible for educating us. Although I find it to be quite a bit of a stretch to believe a 22 yo didn’t know about slavery, if she didn’t that’s a failing of the public school system. And I think it’s pretty evident given all the recent scandals that a lot of people are falling through the cracks when it comes to history. I’m saying that as someone who never learned any gay history at all until I took an elective history class in college and shared classes with people who believed black people should be grateful for slavery because it “gave them WiFi”. If discussing the history of a minority group is something the parents in the town will object to school systems are encouraged to not teach it, downplay it, or teach an alternate narrative.
I like what what Rachel said. She accepted Chris's apology. That made me happy. I always liked Rachel. I just did not want to see anybody being destroyed over all this. I feel it will be a lot easier to fix these issues if you do it with love. The world will continue to spiral downhill if we promote hate and continue with this cancel culture. I do agree that change had to come. Every race should feel important, equal and treated fairly. These discussions had to be done to fix injustices. I just dont want to see everyone hating each other.
Jane If you really want to create a climate of peace in the discussions, you have to avoid the term "Cancel Culture" which is a controversial term like "woke police" for which Chris Harrison apologizes on national television. The term "Cancel Culture" was created by Whites Supremacists to avoid the destruction of the statutes of the Confederate leaders, these pre-Nazis. It is now used as a shield to avoid punishment for racist words or acts. Or punishment is part of the educational arsenal. Parents know it, educators know it. And white supremacists generally behave like uneducated children who need to be re-educated.

I understand your point about anger, but sometimes anger and shame is a necessary and powerful tool that forces people to stop and listen instead of continuing on with their racist view points. Accountability isn’t anger, and passion isn’t cancel culture. We have to have serious and to the point discussion if as a society we want to see real and true equality for everyone. My son, says, mom, slow down, your doing all the talking and not giving others a chance to talk. I catch myself doing that. I try now, to be aware, so I dont do it. Everyone who saw that interview was outraged. What r u talking about? During the interview Rachel just calmly pointed out why the old south party picture wasn’t ok ever while Chris defended the picture bc it was taken in 2018. The outrage of the public is what caused Chris to step aside. It had nothing to do with Rachel. After the PUBLIC responded to how Chris talked over Rachel and defended the picture, billy bush asked Rachel about the interview again and she said she didn’t like it either. I stand with Rachel. Personally, I think if he stays as host on The Bachelor, there will be an unremovable stain on the show. He's sorry not for what he said, but he's sorry because he received a lot of backlash for the racist comments he said. There is a BIG difference. People may "forgive" but won't forget every time they see his face on the TV screen. And now he's trying to show that he got a "Black friend" a "Black Advocate" Michael Eric Dyson, to help him protect his image and his job. I think he said everything he meant in the first interview. I believe when someone shows you their true colors, don't try to repaint them. Matt James being the first Black bachelor in 2021 is no accident. The show started in 2002. I think people should also remember that Chris Harrison is very media trained, and should take his apology with a grain of salt. As Robin DiAngelo, the author of the book 'White Fragility' put it "Niceness is not Anti-Racism", by the way, Robin DiAngelo has written a whole book about this subject, titled 'Nice Racists: How Progressive White People Uphold Racism, its coming out this year on June 29, 2021. Is Racheal K really racism to any color ppls ever beside the picture at the party that she attended? From that picture. These "activists" have it so easy that they have to invent racism even when it isn't there. After just watching Social Dilemma, I feel the top guns running these social media groups have the intelligence to root out hate mail and prevent this from continuously happening especially with how many suicides within the younger generation that cannot cope. She did on her podcast. Taylor is a mean girl who hijacked the fight for social justice for her own gains. She needs therapy to understand where her hurt comes from and why she directs it at other marginalized groups. It is also important to note that Taylor isn't the face of Bachelor Nation, Chris is and that is why he has taken so much heat.

You are confused. He apologized about how he spoke to her in the previous interview in private. That’s what Chris said in his interview and Rachel is just reiterating that he apologized in private and she accepted his apology. Now he’s apologizing to her publicly.
