Here is a recording of Rachmaninoff playing his own “Polka de W.R.” as recorded for the American Piano Company (Ampico). This is made possible thanks to a roll scan from the Terry Smythe collection as well as Katz Sasaki’s PlaySK piano roll emulator. This makes it possible to play roll scans wirelessly while still being able to see the virtual roll pass over the virtual tracker bar. It is astounding what technology is able to do. Pardon the poor recording quaility (both audio and video) and the piano itself. Not too bad for a piano that I bought for under $500, but it certainly isn’t worthy of the Maestro himself.

Thank you for using the software! I like this roll. I would like to implement Ampico A emulation someday. And the wireless midi output is amazing. I'm using a Roland USB-MIDI cable, but wireless is great because you can put your PC anywhere you like.

By the way, is it an M2 Macbook?

Is this talking to solenoids via the midi cable or is it using the info in a power roll way and the computer controls the Ampico ? :)

Thank you so much for making this software available to the public! I have loved using it. The Bluetooth works fairly well, but can be finicky at times. I do appreciate having the ability to control the piano from almost anywhere in my house from the phone or laptop. Very convenient. Regarding using the app, is there a way to “rewind” or “fast forward” the roll without starting back from the beginning?

@@kyokutyou2007To be honest, I have no idea. Haha. I just got it a couple of months ago for school. It is a 2023 release MacBook Pro 14” with their medium grade chip, whatever model that is. Haha. It seems to work quite well. I’m not techy and have never been a fan of Apple products, but I love the Mac.

@@WelteMaxNot exactly either, actually. This uses a Bluetooth midi adapter made by Yamaha to control the solenoids.
