Rachmaninoff Etude-Tableau op39#6 Fragment of recording session in Hannover Germany, December 2009. Rachmaninoff Sonata # 1, 6 Moment Musicaux op 16, 4 Preludes
@@randomguyontheinternet6546 Oh wow, somehow I didn't even notice until today. Awesome! Although it's pretty emblematic of my life that my admission I'm terrible at piano would get noticed by one of the greatest living pianists :P I feel like I should do something with my newfound fame... um... check out my channel, I've started doing gaming vids... Or is that just too tacky? Yeah, probably.
What's so psycho about it? On the contrary it's a very vivid and accurate depiction of the red hood's childish playfulness, a big scary wolf and the chase that ensues as the result of encounter.
@@pplayer666 The fact that Rachmaninoff is so good with embedding known images into his music and make it so visual, is what is so psycho about it. He doesn't leave a blank note space.
@@alanpotter8680 to me this piece is a sound analog of a photographic quality painting, where emotions are conveyed so thoroughly and precisely one cannot help but see everything. Perhaps my understanding of psycho differs from some others, that's alright.
The above commenter attributed this piece to the story of Little red riding hood. The story famously depicts the wolf as anthropomorphic. So realistically we can discern that this is a story about a killer. Mr. Wolf stalking A little girl then kills the grandmother then pretends to be the grandmother and then he chased after the little girl and kills her too. To me that’s pretty psycho.
As someone who has played piano for many years, this is definetely not the hardest part, its her ability to play so fast and yet so delicate, when you play songs with many repeated notes and trills, the faster it gets the more impossible it gets
erdeminoff So I see you drive trucks and watch guitar and piano videos on RU-vid along with vlogs and conspiracy theories. Your a slight science geek with a love of Rachmaninoff, you wish you were famous and rich. And right now your wondering (how does this guy know so much?) And the answer is 😈😈😈😈 I checked your RU-vid subscription 😂😂😂😂. Sorry if I scared you for a second.
Majed Kalaoun Hello Mr. Classical music and minecraft fan, how's your piano playing going? Still learning that Chopin piece? Nice Instagram account....no posts I see.....you get snow often??? Anyway, have a nice life 😈😈😈😈
I absolutely love this. You have to be extremely crazy to compose this, even crazier to play it, that's the result of Rachmaninoff's music. He's my favorite composer and a personal inspiration. And I love Val's interpretation very much as well! The craziness of the best musicians ever!
Burntshmallow Rachmaninoff never really named his pieces, like so many other composers. it was just a nickname given by the public or someone after publishing
This Etudes and other 4 where named by Ottorino Respighi, who created an orchestrated version with Rachmaninoff agreement. Full list below. La foire - (Op. 33, n. 6) La mer et les mouettes - (Op. 39, n. 2) La chaperon rouge et le loup - (Op. 39, n. 6) Marche funèbre - (Op. 39, n. 7) Marche - (Op. 39, n. 9)
when i heard the older video of Valentina playing this piece a long time ago i knew from the first few notes that she was a great artist. I don't always prefer her versions of the pieces but i always do a small detour to hear what she has to show with great enthusiasm :) what a great pianist and internet personality she is.
The idea of "Little Red Riding Hood" is from Rachmaninoff himself. And when I listen to her performance, it does remind me of Little Red Riding Hood found and chased by the wolf. I personally think the speed and weight are absolutely fitting for this piece. :)
Like she doesn't "press" any of these piano keys at all. Her fingers are just floating softly over the keys, hardly touching them - and they press themselves by pure reverence. That's magic.
There's a version of the Red Riding Hood story where the girl gets tricked into cannibalizing her grandmother and then she, too, is killed by the wolf. That's the version of the story I link to think this piece fits. Scary.
When this piece is played this fast it really gives you the interpretation or vision of what could be happening in a scene between Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf. Listening to it slower just makes you admire the craft of the piece.
This piece seems like it’s not even written for its beauty just for the virtuoso who plays it to show off their immaculate skills! This performance is truly tremendous!
Everytime I watch you play it makes me want to cry because you're so good! Just watching your hands move across the piano puts me (and everyone I show your videos to) in a state of awe! And I've seen this video like 20 times, I just can't stop watching it, I play it over and over.
beethoven: joy and and feelings and stuff.dont have time for this must *compose* brahms: whatever keys i press sound good. you like hangary? liszt: i paid for the whole damn piano ima use the whole damn piano. rachmaninoff: *these keys are soaked in the blood of the innocent you can hear their screams in the chords* chopin: sometimes fun, depressed. need another hand to play mozart: im so majestic and elegant, im sippin on Cabernet Sauvignon
So I've been reading through this thing since last night, and I can tell you the right hand is nowhere even NEAR the left hand in terms of difficulty. Sure the right hand is fast and stuff, but the left hand has to FLY constantly lol
Aaaaahhh... watching stuff like this reminds me just how incredibly awesome human beings can be at their best. Both the composer and the performer are just so... unbelievably fantastic. Stuff like this restores my sometimes-ailing faith in humanity.
The lower bases areas like what you put is the wolf chasing her, the frantic treble responses are her running away. It dies down later where she’s run out of breath and the wolf (end chords) and eaten her
When I listen to Valentina's performances my brain just lights up! It's as if each section of my brain is being stimulated as I follow the sound of each note. Ahh :)
Headlines:: "Pianist drops little girl right into the mouth of a wolf!" "Experts say only a red cape was found, little girl was gone in a flash, felt nothing. ...Maybe some bewildered confusion and panic...." More on 6pm news..
1:08 now that is hard - look at those left hand jumps and imagine playing that in time with all those fast chords in the right hand? All in all amazing 🤩 P.S. The reverb adds another cool touch!
