Thanks Adam for doing this video , it was special when Karl looked at the car for the first time , We have become great mates and buying the car was as much for him as it was for me . i cant wait to see him race it again , and to share the drive with him will be special for me . and thanks as always to everyone for there very kind comments, they are very much appreciated.

Great to see your enthusiasm come over on the film Paul. I believe that if Karl had had a more competitive and funded car, he would have dominated the class. Having said that, there is always something magical about being the underdog who fights for their place.

Touring cars were so exciting back then and incredible to watch. It was more about driver talent than electronics / aerodynamics and flappy paddle gear shifts.

Adam mate this is fxxxxxg gold to me my first touring car race was aged 8 in 1980 watching John Cleland in an escort at ingleston in Scotland then got hooked and followed the 90s and 00s at knockhill

12:25 it’s because you then turn from your elbows instead of your shoulders. If your too far back you can only get 1/2 a turn either way before your forearms touch each other, when your closer in you can get nearly 3/4 of a turn each way without taking your hands off the 3&9 positions on the wheel

Karl 'Rally Suspension' Jones take a bow a brilliant video Adam a real insight into a proper racer who loves it up the inside in the wet I would love to see these two race competitively with Grp A suspension, Paul is the time keeper of The BTCC Cosworth history for sure love his knowledge and Passion.

Karl was some driver in this. I had no idea watching back then as a kid that he was so hampered by budget constraints and had those limitations in the build. You'd never have known sometimes watching him. Always had a soft spot for that livery too, was just a bit different.

I had two Merkur XR4ti's back in the 90's and would love to have one again and build it up for a weekend and track day car. It was difficult getting racing coverage of RS500's back in the 80's here in the USA. I am so thankful for youtube and you guys revisiting these amazing vehicles.

How did Paul linford end up doing what he does. Remember as a teen reading fast Ford and performance Ford and the word btcc spec engine Rs 50p was the words of dreams for me..
