Guys, running to get on the tube faster isn't going to make your plane/train depart any earlier than planned. Take it EASY!

But that wouldn't make much of an exciting start to the video.

Getting on the tube earlier means getting to the airport earlier means more time to get past security. There wasn’t a queue this time, but there could have been.
@Dog.eatdog

@@Dog.eatdog true but also, train every 30 minutes from 7am. Every 30 minutes. 6 flights per day, 2 early, 2 afternoon, 2 evening. There's a train leaving when you need. If you do miss your train, you can always get the next one.

There is non-0 percent posibility that the tube/metro/subway/commuter rail that you'll use will be free of trouble/late/delay etc. As a person who got on the train 5 minutes before it departs, I can feel them.

I've travelled between London and Edinburgh numerous times and would always go with the train for various reasons. 1. No extra costs for luggage 2. Don't have to worry about security line times 3. Trains are very frequent, almost every half an hour. 4. Often train is much cheaper and more comfortable
@enthusiastisch1922
@enthusiastisch1922 Год назад
Plane is cheaper though, it's only like 22 pounds one way whilst I only found 19.90 on train one way and that's with my disabled rail card, also I have a sunflower lanyard, so I can skip security queues and getting through is easy if you plan ahead with what's in your pockets.
@Nukeguy909
@Nukeguy909 Год назад
@@enthusiastisch1922 not if you have bags, that's at least an extra £15 each way just for a normal cabin suitcase. Plus you have to factor in the cost of getting to/from the airports which is about £10 to Luton by train/bus and £6 from Edinburgh airport on the tram. Usually with a railcard the train ends up cheaper if you book a few weeks in advance, even with £20 plane tickets

@@enthusiastisch1922 but then you need to factor in the cost of the train to the airport, which can very easily make that a false economy, especially considering that cheap fares are more consistently available for trains than for planes, and fares are more easy to predict if you know what to look out for and when

I recently did a same-day round trip from Edinburgh to London, flying early in the morning to Luton and getting the train back in the evening (this just happened to be the cheapest combination that day). I've always preferred the train for this and most other domestic routes, because although it takes longer, it's more comfortable and not so broken up. It was a close run this time though - on a long, rushed, tiring day, it does get frustrating sitting on a single train for so long, while on this occasion the airport was no hassle - the queues were short and the terminal quiet, so it was quite relaxing. I think in future I'll look at both options and just take whichever is cheapest and most conveniently timed.

Choice is usually BA out of LHR and take LNER down from Doncaster (1hr 45m), get across London to Paddington and then pay exorbitant Heathrow Express fee. Alternative... fly with KLM out of either Leeds, Humberside or Manchester and go via AMS (50min flight) with a 2hr or less layover. When you add up the time and hassle factor, I choose KLM every time. Shame a dutch airline services the north better than our national flag carrier but go with what works.👍

@@elizabethpringle Indeed. I have now checked the timetable. On Mon-Fri during the middle of the day the Circle Line operates every 10 minutes. @joshholloway4799 Год назад
Liam should also have gone westbound to blackfriard and got thameslink to st Pancras and walked to King's Cross. As the circle line station at King's Cross St Pancras is in St Pancras and it is quite the walk over from the circle line platforms to King's Cross station.
@PStaveley
@PStaveley Год назад
@@joshholloway4799 That route also has merits. I did not mention it because if a Circle Line train was immediate then it probably would have been quicker because it would avoid the longish walk at Blackfriars and the relative distances at Kings Cross from the Circle (H&C/Met) Lines is similar to from the Thameslink Station, particularly if boarding the LNER train at Kings Cross at the south end. Interestingly NIcky used the best exit at Farringdon even though that was against the signage. Unless he next did a very long walk then he would have exited from the Underground part of the station, crossed the road and entered the Thameslink part of the station, which is the quickest interchange. There is a signed direct Westbound Circle/H&C/Met to Northbound Thameslink interchange (which is longish) but, as I said, he did not use that route.

Generally the airport bus is slightly faster than the tram - except at peak times where the tram going off road for much of the route helps it.

At first I was like "why are they on the same tube train, KC and Victoria are in opposite directions" then I realized he was going to Luton not Gatwick haha. I have seen the QR code to order food thing on TfW on their locomotive hauled trains (their premium service), didn't sample the food though as only rode that train between Shrewsbury and Crewe.

For almost a 100 pounds difference, I'll take the train for sure. But I am train hound, so might still take the train if the price would be the same. Unless I really can't afford 40 minutes...

That depends when you want to go. There are 2-3 flights a day from Luton to Edinburgh & you would need to book in advance. Trains run at least every hour & you can just turn up.

the train wins it for me, the trains are really comfortable and you can be there directly from London city centre to Edinburgh city centre!

Liam You could have gone on LumO instead of LNER. It’s cheaper and quicker most of the time

Don’t know why you both run at the start - you clearly have set departure times on both of the main legs!

For a difference of under an hour? No question, the train all the way. If security was more like normal and you didn't have the quick pass or whatever its called then it would be longer for sure. The train is way more scenic, and better for the environment. And cheaper! Win all around.

Must have been a good reason to choose EZY from LTN. But surely the best air option would be BA from LCY.
@davidwright7193
@davidwright7193 Год назад
Timing? Cost? But yes it would be quicker. LCY is by far the best London airport to use for short haul flights
@alexmcwhirter6611
@alexmcwhirter6611 Год назад
@@davidwright7193 It might be the cost, it might be because the departure point would give LCY the advantage. But it's not related to timing as BA operated nine flights LCY-EDI which is more than EZY operates LTN-EDI.
