Mikhaila, Africa Brooke, and Dr. Peterson talk about the disappointments and social pressures that made them second-guess "wokeness" and how, instead, one can lean on the backbone of individuality - even when surrounded by a culture that's not so keen on that idea.

So true. I'm an old school lefty but I find it hard to fault what he says. Yet he is painted as a misogynist alt-right icon. Once labelled few then find out exactly what he says, perpetuating this false narrative. What upsets me the most with this and woke-ness is the ammunition they give the real alt-right to paint the left as something to be feared. This discussion sums up the main point of a conversation I had with my family and friends. I recently took an anthropology course so the part of the conversation on chimps and their relation to humans hit home. The main point, that people, and animals, have preferences for their "in-group," is the point I was trying to make (albeit not as articulate). To classify it as the racism seems to be a scapegoat answer to a multifaceted problem.

Hatred and being racist is a learned trait! No one is born inherently racist because they were born a certain color. To think that way is absolutely absurd and the people that push that have their own objectives. I also hate the phrase "I don't see color" when people refer to other races. It's okay to see color and people should be proud of what color and race they are not be ashamed of it. The problem with his description is that it isn't simply about in-group preferences or skin color. One thing I have done for years with my kids is when they are trying to remind me of someone, not to use visual references, try to use something about their personality to remind me of them. Yes and no to that. Everyone is an individual - as of writing this, there are no two people who are copies of each other for all relevant circumstances. But in order to get to decisions effectively, you're better off using labels (and thus boxes). I personally love labels, because labels can be entered into a search engine. They're a great device when used properly. My mom has this attitude of every child is good the way they are. Turns out I have a lot of quirks and I didn't understand a lot of that thanks to that. So, I'd correct your statement to: _Everyone is an individual first and foremost, and secondary a member of various groups._ Your group memberships matter, but don't ultimately define your value as a person. As a very practical example, if you try to find a partner online, you can examine every candidate individually. But what's much more effective is to (mechanically) filter out candidates by some select group memberships (age, sex, sexual orientation, where they're living, what they dislike, etc.) and among the intersection examine people individually.

I grew up in black neighborhoods across south carolina and Georgia. Ive lived with numerous foster families and family members, each one taught me not to judge based on skin. Growing up in the neighborhoods that I did, my friends were obviously black Americans most of the time. And what I saw in most of their households was deep seeded racism, and racism being passed down in plain sight. "What did I tell you about hanging around with those white folks". Couldn't date a girl once bc I was white and her dad didn't like it (how insecure can a "man" be). Always being stared at when I was in a group of black people. I understand black people face racism, but every form of racism needs to be dealt with and eliminated.

I had the same experience as a blonde growing up in most black neighborhoods. Also noticed they are very racist to eachother. Dark or mixed really get bullied. My husband is Asian, he also grew up in black neighborhoods and had the same exact experience. If people say this isn't true they simply aren't being honest. Just ask young Nigerian or African immigrants. Many of them will tell you the same thing. They experience more racism from American blacks than any white. To deny the reality of the problem fixes nothing. To deny there is a cultural issue holding back youth will only make life worse for the future youth. These children need love and they need their Dad's. I truly believe that is the main issue plaguing black Americans.

@@carnivorousbarbie Yes, all you say is true. Only 45% of African American households contain a married couple, compared to 80% for Whites, and 70% among Hispanics. A broken family is a grave social issue, it usually results in poverty and crime. The family is the smallest unit of a society and a broken family will break a society. Hollywood and the secular media keep promoting sex as the main source of human happiness and fulfillment, this is a false premise - sex must come with responsibilities - nature has taught us this inescapable fact - and the results are glaringly clear - death, disease, and most devastating the destruction of the family Females who first had sex in their teens had roughly double the risk of divorce later in life compared to women who had their first unmarried sexual experience in their adult years. Girls who experienced their first sexual experience with a young man who would eventually be her husband did not have particularly elevated risk of divorce. Women with 0-1 partners were the least likely to divorce. Earlier research found that having multiple sex partners prior to marriage could lead to less happy marriages, and often increased the odds of divorce. Black women divorce at a rate nearly double of either white or Hispanic women. Science is now showing us what our grandmothers and pastors knew all along. Having sex with someone who is not our spouse can have a real, measurable and harmful impact upon later relationships. When we give ourselves away - and sex is a full giving of ourselves away physically, emotionally, spiritually - to someone outside the commitment and protection of marriage, it breaks down an important part of us, making our future relationships more unhealthy and difficult to sustain. It’s easiest to make sense of the low divorce rates of people with minimal sexual experience prior to marriage. One of the most common reasons for premarital abstinence is religion, and (NSFG) National Survey of Family Growth, data support such an interpretation. Women who marry as virgins are far more likely than other women to attend church at least once a week. Denzel Washington speaks out: Don’t ‘blame the system’ for black incarceration, ‘it starts at home’ what more can we say. Go to school, hard work, get a job or two jobs, do not father or mother a child in your teens and start a family…and this will guaranty anyone of any color a decent life in the US….we deserve what we do.... This cannot be solved until we get back to our old fashion morals on sex. We are in a foolish experiment if we can survive with a society without God.

Then term "racist" is simply a replacment for the actual English language word "tribalist". It is meant to dicourage loyalty to one home, hearth, Kith and kin. Anyone who calls you a "racist" is just saying: Tribalism for me but not for thee. It IS a method of tubal warfare's thru language. Cheers.

I agree with what you’re saying. However, today, it is also a ratcheting tool with variable definition that is applied in one manner or a different manner as needed to inflict maximum social damage.
