Believe it or not, I also dislike Mary sue characters and forcing diversity into situations where it doesn’t make sense, but you also need to suspend disbelief about certain things depending on the type of media. There is a massive difference between Rey, a bland character who is super powerful for no reason other than “it fits the story” and actual strong female characters like say Black Widow or Miss Fallout here, you know, two women who trained all their lives for the things they are good at. People used to get mad at Black Widow kicking a bunch of goons asses constantly in Avengers as if she wasn’t a master martial artist and top government agent, women are fully capable of mopping the floor with men in hand to hand combat if they have technique, fighting isn’t about raw strength.
