Ability to run, sprint and play racquetball were gone after 11 surgeries, loss of cartilage and arthritis. Both knees were replaced giving me the ability to start saying "Yes" again to the activities I'd left behind. This video shows movement ability restored on the racquetball court.

Some nice kill shots. How long did it take to recover from the surgeries? And how long before you were back on the court?

Tricky question. I could have been on much earlier than I was, but I ran into a complication. I did both knees on the same day and that presented a very high chance for blood clots. My nurse didn't recognize that I wasn't responding to Coumadin and I developed blood clots in my lungs and my right leg. They put me on Xarelto for 6 months. That was a fantastic drug with no side effects. At the end of the 6 months, the clots were gone and I was cleared for activity. The real answer is around 5 to 6 months. If you have one knee done, maybe a little quicker. The biggest challenge is gaining confidence in your new part. Once you've done that, you can do about everything.
