pretty cool setup, looking forward to seeing the finished install and operations testing! glad to know that i ain't the only one with that stupid trunk light that stays on all the time, i'm just to danged lazy to yank the dash apart and pull the bulb i reckon. 😄👍
Addiegirl's Country Home you can fix the trunk light by adjusting the stops. the rubber stops wear out, fall off,it rot. this makes for a sloppy seal and can trigger the light. adjust the stops in and your trunk will close tighter.
whoo hoo! I've been waiting for this video! Two things though... although I don't have one YET I did read some write ups. You should be able to find them if you Google ra rail II install. They will discuss the wiring. On 97+ the Tcm is under the dash. 2nd. the factory console fits the ra shifter like shit in my opinion. the black shifter cover doesn't line up and will need to be notched. If you leave the rail 2 attached to the rock you are going to have to cut for that also. my plan was to use some 3/16ths stainless plate and make a new cover. just throwing out the idea. looking forward the wiring vid and what you think about it after you have used it for awhile.
Trae Miller yeah figured it out about ten minutes ago was testing with the meter Going wtf 2.5 v out puts makes no sense not enough wires I'm on the right track now I should really research a little more lol
Hey rusty I was wondering how I could set my rev limit lower than factory like around 4600 or something around that. I have a factory tach. But not much info anywhere. Thanks. It's a 97 xj 4.0
For that TC lockup, IN my ranger, it was pin 53 or something in the main computer. Its just a ground interrupt circuit. connect to that pin and a ground point with a toggle switch, then it doesn't matter what gear is wired where. Just flip the switch in whatever gear to lock up the converter. This should give you more flexibility, though requires a little bit of wisdom with its use.
Is that 1st gear option a true 1st gear? Meaning stays in 1st and won't shift into 2nd? Or will it act the same way as original. 1st then shift to 2nd by itself?
+Twerkn it will stay in first til you shift it check out the rest of the videos on the install and I went on a trail ride with it and tested it unto the Rev limiter it works really good
is the rock shifter and the rail controller bought separate ? or is the rail controller included with the rock shifter ? the thing you called a "mini lever" is sold by itself at the "rail controller"
good to know. you are always at least one step ahead of me with your xj (maybe more like 5-10 steps). i am raptor lining interior floor this weekend if it is nice enough out. if you did it again, would you suggest removing the aluminum foil stuff or prep it in a different way (at 1:03)?
MrMrsregor Def remove the foil stuff it doesn't like the liner other than that normal prep is holding up every where else I was lazy didn't take the foil out lol
Rusty IDK how far you've gotten with this, but that's the air bag computer not the TCM. the TCM is up under the dash to the right of the steering column.
Travis McVey lmao wait to you see the first part of the video yeah I figured it lol man gssss I was staring at diagrams like there is not enough wire then tested it seen 2.5 volts outputs and was like dam it man
Rusty 411 Sorry brother. I actually fell asleep watching this earlier this morning, and once I got back up re watched it. Had I known this morning you didn't go all the way I'd had said something then. I figured you did the whole thing at once, and figured it out before the end of the video.
Rusty 411 right on.... I sub'd.... I'm looking to hold 2nd in low range for downhill in the snow.... the down shift to 1st in that situation is undesired... thanks for the 411
I'm curious. What is gained by installing this? What are the benefits? I went to the company's site but it's not clear other than to replace the stock shifter. Thanks for the videos.
@@adammedeiros6036 no the only way to go to reverse on a auto xj is to hold the break and the button on the shifter to put it in reverse. and if you tried to slam it in and did get it in you would skip and put it in park by mistake. so this makes it fast and easy.
Paul Lloyd it makes the shift softer from what I know my doesn't have the switch the wife's does do k ow if you loose power to that switch no shift at all
