After watching these northbound and southbound videos today, I have to say, wow, Dee, Alaskan cruises must be your favorite because you get to see nature so much. Thank you for bringing us along. #Paromaniac
Rockin with the captain, pretty cool! Captain has a pretty good voice, who woulda thunk it?All those performers did a good job singing and rockin!! Loved this series, anxiously looking forward to more shenanigans and adventures on the seas and shores abroad!!
I’m so sad to see the Alaskan series come to an end! The show with the staff performing was really different and so nice. Thank you for bringing excellent videos to us to enjoy! Love, Anthony and Nancy
Your socks "happy trees" made me think about my grandma who studied with Bob Ross. She ended up working with NCL for a little while in the 80's as the person who taught the painting classes.
Thanks Jay and Dee for another great Alaskan adventure series. Loved getting to see some new ports (Seward and Haines) I was only able to visit Juneau, Ketchikan and Icy Strait Point. Missed Skayway as it was dropped from our itinerary. But hey gives me a great excuse to book another Alaskan cruise in the future. I was on Carnival Splendor the week after your trip 5/24-6/1 and we had fabulous weather. No rain at all and warm. Late May is my favorite time now to travel. Not many crowds and just right weather. I'm looking forward to seeing your Hawaiian cruise adventures. That's next on my bucket list. Although I may need to try some of that Canadian crack as well. Cruise on you crazy twosome!.
Not a big fan o shower curtains on a cruise, either, Jay. The acrylic shell version is better. We went to Alaska in August and loved it, so I can recommend Alaska in August, too! I'm looking forward to seeing your further travel adventures. As always, thank you for sharing!
I have really enjoy your Alaska vlogs!! We are booked up through 2023 with our vacations but we are thinking about checking off a bucket list one in 2024 with a cruise to Alaska, we are seriously considering an itinerary round trip out of Vancouver for a 10 day voyage with Glacier bay and Hubbard glacier viewing days and an extra stop in possibly Icy Strait I think. We will probably only get there once so we want to plan the best trip possible. I'm glad to hear out of Vancouver is much smoother and you see more! Thanks for all the info in your vlogs. Now we know certain places to check out and definitely interested in Glacier Wind for whale watching! Thank you❤️
I like shower curtains much better than solid enclosures for a cruise ship shower. All ship showers tend to be very small anyway. At least with a curtain, it will move when I, inevitably and repeatedly, bump into it while destinkyfying myself.
Oh my goodness, I loved the Tango show snippets and the CAPT's farewell show!!! WOW what a talented group of folks working on the ship. Now, serious question....why do you skip breakfast on what will be a VERY long travel day? I know you do your own bag drag, so is it because you HAD to be out of the cabin earlier than others? Also - QUESTION --- WHAT did you think of that extra deep balcony where 2 ft or more was "exposed to your neighbors" down the length of the ship??
I'm actually not sure why we bounced out without breakfast on this particular sailing. Normally it's because we're driving and have an early day, so we just buzz through a Dunkin Donuts or something and hit the road. We weren't in any particular hurry that I recall this time around, ha ha... ah well! We loved the super big balcony option, but it was weird sometimes being out there wanting to vlog and chat to the camera, with neighbors right there. We tried not to disturb folks as much as we could, ha ha... :P
Never saw a thing in the inside passage as you couldn't see 5 ft off the ship because of all the fog! And we were supposed to be able to see lots of whales. In fact, they had to go out of the inside passage because of the fog because it was too hard to navigate without seeing.
The bigger ships (IE Royal Princess) go on the outside of Vancouver Island because they can't get under the wires hanging across the Seymour Narrows near Campbell River
Thankee! For actual editing, you can normally get away with free options like Windows Movie Maker (though I think it has been retired), iMovie for Mac, Davinci Resolve, etc. or you can pay for something like Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro. I edit with the files on my hard drive, then once the video is done, move everything off to an external hard drive just in case I need any of the files later!! :P
Ah, we've talked about Royal's pizza a lot in the past, so I didn't even think to give a rundown this time, ha ha... they seem to have two kinds on Royal... the good "Sorrento's" kind, and the less good kind. This ship had the less good kind!! :P ~Jay
The big island off the coast of Vancouver is, appropriately enough, Vancouver Island! lol. I happen to live on the island, about one hour north of Victoria. It`s a beautiful place to visit if you get a chance.
I noticed when you were outside on the lower open deck that there was no seating set up. What is up with that? Is that typical on an Alaskan cruise? When we were on the Miracle earlier this month there was no seating on the lower open deck. We normally sit out there on Caribbean cruises, enjoy the quiet and being close to the water. Enjoyable series as always.
I think most Alaska cruises skip the whole setting up of deck chairs concept if it's too cold, possibly rainy, etc. I'm not sure if there would be chairs in the summer, but maybe we'll find out in July, hah. That does seem more of a Caribbean thing to do!! :P
I've really enjoyed this series. We're cruising on Radiance May 2023 roundtrip out of Vancouver. I'm already in "research and plan" mode. Have a safe, non-eventful journey home!
4:26 It seems that almost all your Alaska cruises get wiggly. I want to convince my wife to do an Alaska cruise but I am sensitive to rocking. Would have to pick my ship carefully.
Thank you for an excellent video series. Haven't been to Haines yet, so it was good to see that. We are doing this same N/S b2b next May. So fun to follow your adventures. I wonder if the "rapids" area you mentioned could have been the Seymour Narrows. I always wanted to see that. We went through that area in the dark (northbound). Also so nice to see all the updates at Icy Strait. There wasn't a dock last time we were there and no gondolas. I remember the beach path, but there was also a nature path back into the woods. Wonder if it's still there.
Thank you so much for this series. I'm planning a family trip on this ship and itinerary and some of them have never cruised and I'm the only one who's been to Alaska. It will really help them get ready for the trip. ❤
We've loved cruising Alaska in May the most! September was better for bears, and we're curious to see how July goes, but I think May will still be our favorite!! :D
@@parodeejay By the way, the dock in Sitka has been repaired as of this week. I was watching your ship dock when the accident happened and like you I did not hear or see anything.
Love you all, and your vlogs… I go on my very first cruise in September, which happens to be to Alaska. YEAH, I can’t wait.. Just wondering is self debarking easy to do?
That's awesome! We've never minded self-debarkation, though sometimes it's hard to find an elevator with space for both you and your suitcases on the last morning. It's easy enough to have the porters handle the suitcases and just pick them up in the terminal on the way out, but for some reason we never choose to go that route, hah!! :P
I'm so sad that this vlog series is over. But then I remembered we have another to look forward to in the summer, can't wait to see your next Alaskan adventure. It's my fav series' I've seen them all at least twice, the serenade, 3x! I'm obsessed with Alaska. Thank you Dee and Jay
