Radio 106 FM (East Midlands) Launch - 23rd September 1997 

The launch of East Midlands regional station Radio 106 FM on Tuesday 23rd September 1997, featuring Sherrie Hewson and the late John Savident.
This is the station that went on to be Century, Heart and then Gem. Currently (March 2024) Gem continues on DAB only, although is due to become Hits Radio East Midlands in April, while the FM frequency became Greatest Hits Radio in October 2023
