Radio Rebel is the weirdest Disney movie 

Okay, why does every Disney movie have a character with a fedora? Every. Single. One.

I feel like Disney has a prop box full of fedoras in auditions and just hires whoever is willing to wear one

This high school principal really convinced herself that she could expel a student that was just doing something in her personal life

Disney really expects me to buy that those mean girls are remotely intimidating when they put them in the dorkiest headbands and outfits I’ve ever seen.

"Until Radio Rebel turns herself in, I'm cancelling prom." Yes, because when you have a principal that oversteps her authority and threatens to expel someone because they have a radio show she doesn't like for one reason or another, and in an escalation of her power trip she threatens to punish the entire school over a single student's actions OUTSIDE of school, then of course the reasonable reaction kids would have is TURN AGAINST THE RADIO BROADCASTER THEY ALL LOVE... Because how dare she not want to get expelled, and how dare she somehow make the principal make some ridiculous decision like that, right? This is why I have such a hard time watching Disney movies, the extreme full good or full evil caricatures without and gray area just get on my nerves as much as how dumb the majority of the characters in said movies are.

If I had gotten expelled from high school for being a *part-time radio DJ* my parents would have ripped the principal to absolute shreds

Did people really listened to radio that much in 2012? Back when the movie came out, I didn't even question it, I was more focused on taking notes on how not to be like the other girls😂

I wonder if kids who watched this movie tried the "smile" with their crush cause they thought it'd make them look cute.

Honestly, I'm just happy her step-dad wasn't portrayed as mean, evil or manipulative in anyway.

I never understood how no one figured it out sooner. The voice modulator doesn’t really change her voice. It’s like Miley putting on a blonde wig and nobody being able to recognize her face 😂

I applaud this movie for having a male romantic interest who doesn't look 28 years old in high school! Also, no matter how many times I see it, your "Abs: The Musical" poster in every teen girl's bedroom in these videos will never not be hilarious 🤣

This whole "Radio Rebel must reveal herself" bit is super similar to the Joker's threats in The Dark Knight, only with less murders.

I miss when Alex did Outro's, even if he was just plugging a podcast or merchstore, like the video just ending so abruptly makes me sad, and I liked how he would break character and say how he really felt at the end of the video, its was nice, hope he starts doing that again.

Even though this movie makes me cringe into new dimensions, what I like about it is that Gavin literally looks like a high schooler and is not the usual teen toxic love interest. Like Alex said, mans just wants to play guitar and live life

I love how PrOm is made out to be this big thing that involve the entire school, but it’s really only for the seniors. So the principal’s threat of taking away the prom really only affects 25% of the school. And idk if this holds true for everybody, but we didn’t have prom royalty.

Anyone else distracted by the fact that Stacey faced zero consequences from the school for locking Terra in a closet specifically so that she would fail an assignment? In my school, where you could get expelled for “fighting” because someone else beat you up, that would warrant at least an investigation and a few weeks’ suspension. Pretty Boy himself said that a member of the staff is a witness. Was this just an effort to make the principal more cartoonishly evil?

13:05 I'm with Alex on this one. I've been rewatching the original Sabrina the teenage witch, every time Libby is horrible to Sabrina & she tells Harvey about it he's just like "Well, she's nice to me" When Libby has LITERALLY made fun of Sabrina IN FRONT of Harvey! Like... the fuck?!

I never got the plotpoint trend of "This person needs to reveal themselves and basically be expelled, or arrested, or killed, or everyone suffers". And then everyone gets mad that the person who has no real reason to reveal themselves because of horrible backlash. Instead of getting mad at the one whos punishing literally every single person for absolutely no reason, they get mad at the person who wont willingly get expelled, locked up, or die. "IF YOU CARED ABOUT US YOU'D RUIN YOUR LIFE" . no, uh. thats not how it works. Doessn't really quite work in this movie though when her backup is literally being a successful official radio host.

Imagine how weird it must have been if you listened to this radio show and didn't go to this school and then all of a sudden it just gets really heated with this school's drama for which you have no context of the events being referenced

Something I find hilarious is how they portray radio in this movie. A big misconception is that everything is live, but fun fact most broadcasts between songs are prerecorded maybe 20-30 minutes ahead of time, along with weather, news and any phone calls to people (but the phone calls have to be for legal reasons). So many other things but still a good movie, love it ahah

When Gavin confronted Stacy about locking Tara in the storage closet Stacy went to tell Gavin that Tara is radio rebel as if that would all of a sudden make him think negatively about her. If anything he would end up liking her more because then he would know that his crush is also famous.

I always tend to remember Gavins actor as Todd (which is just another role he played, and I should have learnt his name by now)… but some of his later work is actually quite fun. I like him being in this one

No chance a principal would be allowed to cancel prom on account of some radio host not exposing herself. If the kids were really that upset then the amount of pressure from complaints by parents would almost immediately reverse this decision.

My high school cancelled prom both my junior and senior year due to lack of interest. I don't know how many tickets were sold during my junior year but my senior year they only sold 30 tickets. I wasn't planning on going anyway but it was kind of amusing.

You know, "Prom" is actually just a traditional coming-of-age ball (it's short for "Promenade"). It doesn't have to be tied to your school. You can host it yourself, or go to one sponsored by a local business or something. It's usually still called a "prom" regardless (the rare exception is "debutante ball").

It would be fun to see you reviewing disney's latin america's telenovela Violetta or its "successor" Soy Luna. Its also dubbed for Disney USA and Europe. It might be fun looking at it. As well as Alex and Co especially since they are kinda getting re-discovered again with re-runs

You know, I'm one of those people who didn't quite watch Disney Channel/Nickolodeon movies back in the day but I enjoy your commentaries so much that I "watch" them through you. I've got to say this one -and it might sound weird- seems like a movie actually made for kids in their early teens and it's so... refreshing to watch? I actually liked it? I mean, I bought that this was a school experience with teenagers unlike... um... most of the recent "teenage" shows? Anyway, keep up the good work Alex 👍

I remember this movie. The sparticus ripoff scene at the end stick in my mind the most, my teen mind rationalised it as the fact that the principal could still expel MC but then people would say that everyone at that dance said that they were radio rebel so why expel this one specific person. Now I realise that it was kind of a botched reference.
