Thanks for the great video. I have the same scanner with the exact same problem with the volume control. Now, after watching your video, my volume control works normally again.
I have a question. we have had our scanner for a while and now when you turn it on the volume is very low. we turn it to max and it is still low. what can we do to fix it?
Hi, I have a problem with my manual push button. My radio is also a RadioShack pro-2050 and works very well exept the keypad. Have you done any keypad replacement ?
+Vienneau Marcel I haven't had any trouble with the buttons on this unit. However, I have repaired keypads on other radios by removing the rubber keys and cleaning the gold contacts on the underlying circuit board with a pencil eraser.
hi do you know how to repair a bose wave radio, it makes a popping sound when you unplug it. It does not power up when plugged in the wall...any ideas?
+Dink Worm Not specifically....but I would suspect bad capacitors or a bad relay. search for Chris Cuff's channel - he has some good wave radio repair videos that may help you.
I have the same scanner 2050, After scanner has been on for a while it starts to Hum, and hum does get louder when you turn up the volume. Any idea on what it might be and poss fix solutions?
If you are running it on AC, try running it on DC from your car or a battery and see if things improve (if you haven't done so already). If the noise goes away then you may have bad filter capacitors and/or a bad power pack. Try replacing the power pack and see if it clear things up. If it doesn't then you may need to replace the filter capacitors inside the unit. You could also try bringing the scanner to another location, like maybe a friend or relative's house and see if you get the noise in another location. If the noise goes away then something in your current location/installation is causing interference. If the noise doesn't go away after trying all of that then something else non-power supply related may be failing internally.
budleyca1 This wouldn't have worked it it were a cold solder joint. The wire crimp or the pin contacts are bad. If there was a cold or cracked joint on the main board wiggling the connector with the shim in place would still produce the volume problem. Thanks for watching!
