Just my opinion but you could have used a small pick to pull the red wire out of its empty spot used a test light to find switched power on one of your other factory plugs(or what wire actually was power supply for factory radio) and move the red wire over just clicked it in.... if the wire you found wasn't being hooked up to something else... if it was being used then you could have pulled the pin out of the Factory plug strip back your piece of Jumper wire and just twist the two together and put a new pin on them put it back in the factory plug now you've got a jumper put a pin on it and stick it where the red wire will connect to it when you plug the adapter together would have been cleaner wiring and probably limited some interference everybody uses ground Loop isolator to stop alternator noise but a lot higher-end cars have filtration on radio power source from the factory that's just my opinion Also to make it easier to do stuff like this you can get a little set of keys that will release most types of electrical pins from there connector just search for electrical pin removal tool it's like five bucks looks like a set of keys a janitor would have

The wiring harness you have listed is not correct . The wire harness that works with this car is Metra 70-1786 ( you listed 70-1768)

So if you get the correct wire harness you wouldn’t have to jump the red wire to the cigarette lighter ?
@josephabaddi8226

No you still have to jump it he listed the correct harness he just inverted the last 2 #’s

Hi is this to power up the factory amplifier via the cigarette lighter wire while using stock speakers and aftermarket deck? How did you install that jumper wire you mentioned? And why? And instead of having to splice and connect the signal wires from the harness adapter to the HU harness I just signal the speakers through the rca cables which were included in the harness adapter? Where do i plug the other end of the rca cables? I am not doing a sub or aftrermkt amp......So I don't need to buy that converter I hear about. Am I on the same page or did I mis interpret your setup?

There's a yellow for constant 12v for memory and red for ignition switch shut off 12v on the Metra harness. Problem is the red wire/plug goes to nothing on the factory harness. That's why you need the jumper.

I jumped the lighter for the red and couldn’t get any constant for the yellow so I ran a wire from the battery in the trunk

How do you hook up the sound? Where do you put the amp wire?

I think the amp lead on the Metra harness is the orange one.

I ran a wire from the battery in the trunk to the radio with a 20 amp fuse that was the only way I could keep all my presets I have the cabrio so it was pain running the wires I also added a back up camera so I ran all the wires the same way

You should remove the red wire and reinsert it into the correct hole
@DaytonCarCare
@DaytonCarCare 4 года назад
There is no correct hole. The factory head unit takes a signal from the factory amp plug (that isn't used with Metra harness) to turn it on. That's why you need to find a ignition switch jumper wire from the cigarette lighter. Funny why doesn't Metra tell you this before you buy the harness
