The RAF Red Arrows perform at the 2019 Spirit of St. Louis air show in Chesterfield MO. September 7, 2019. Joined by a Supermarine Spitfire Mk. IXE. #rafredarrows #spiritairshow
@@1aatlas Because the Spitfire was the only British plane capable of shooting down the 109. The Hurricane couldn't match it and was better suited to going after the bombers. Without the Spitfire, we would have lost. Without the Hurricane, we still would have won.
i dont mean to be off topic but does someone know of a trick to log back into an instagram account..? I was dumb forgot my account password. I love any tricks you can offer me
@Cody Kyler Thanks for your reply. I found the site through google and I'm trying it out atm. Takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
You can't mistake the sound of a spitfire such a proud sound....how great it must be to fly one....and the red arrows, superb flying so proud to be British bought tears to my eyes to see Spitfire and R.A flying together...
I don't care what anyone says, the Spitfire is the single greatest aeroplane ever built. The sound of that engine, the shape just stands out instantly as a Spitfire. As a Brit the pride that bursts out as soon as you hear or see one is difficult to describe.
@@sommerwood2920, it wasn't that they didn't have the will, 2 things conspired against them. 1) Air Superiority. The Nazi's knew that they needed total control of the air, that's why Blitzkrieg worked. The defeat of the Luftwaffe in the Battle of Britain didn't give them that. 2) The weather.
Thanks for capturing and posting this. I've only seen the Red Arrows in videos. I went Saturday to see them in person. Spectacular! Halfway through their performance two words came to mind: Elegance & Finesse.
Grant The red arrows are a glorious sight, i am lucky in that where i work in the UK they fly over quite regularly, and even though i am in my 50s i still run outside to see them, fly over.
VERY LUCKY INDEED! I was in a reserved seating area so the crowd was thinner where I was. It dosen't come across in the vid, but the whole place was cheering!
Hope you yanks enjoyed the display, went to an airshow here in england just over a month ago to see the f-35 a thing of beauty, thanks by the way lol 😉 hoping the f-22 comes over to our side of the pond soon would love to see it 😍 my personal fave from you guys is the f-18 hornet beautiful jet and the sound of those twin engines 😍😍
Whoa - what a show! NEVER seen the Red Arrows on the ground before. They normally blister in, do their stuff, and then skeddad. To see them align on the runway and then take off was a treat. That Spitfire show too was unbelievable. They don't throw old Spits around like that in the UK. They treat those old ladies much more sedately.
Thanks for posting this. They always look better on a cloudless day. The spitfire there was an added bonus. Over here in the UK they have the battle of Britain memorial flight. A Lancaster bomber a spitfire and a hurricane, the sound all 3 make together is incredible. Not sure if its the same with Americans but that Merlin Rolls Royce engine brings a lump to my throat. Alot of people have alot of thanks to give to that little plane and the brave pilots who flew them. 🇬🇧🇺🇲
@@warhawkcreativevideo The Red Arrows are pretty much a national institution here in the UK, they fly to their display in formation and if they Land anywhere there's always a crowd to watch. The only other planes that had that effect were the Vulcan and Concorde which used to bring traffic to a standstill if they were about. I was at the Monsters of Rock at Donnington park in the early 90's watching Aerosmith or Whitesnake or whatever group it was, Concorde took off from the East Midlands Airport and drowned out the music, 50,000 rock fans turned away to watch it, hilarious. 🤣 I think you lot over the pond are trying to get an English Electric Lightning flying, we aren't allowed over here, if you do please try your best to film it, it's awesome!
Rivaled only by those Growlers blowing by in full afterburner. I was right up on the fence in front of you and it hurt my ears...I felt like I was back on the flightline with F4s going by!
warhawkcreativevideo noisiest aircraft i have seen was the English Electric Lightning on full reheat pulling a take off vertical . Ear splitting right up to 8000 ft after that it was just a red tailed dot. Impressive for a 1960s plane to have a 20000ft per minute climb rate though
Something incredibly poignant about the Red Arrows flown by combat pilots of today waiting while the Spitfire of yesteryear hammers past. History never dies when it is written in blood as the combat pilots of the RAF proved in their Spitfires and Hurricanes and Lancasters and Mosquitos and Mustangs from 1940 onwards Per Ardua AD Astra
Great name check by The Reds for Alex Henshaw. One of the greatest pilots ever. Should have been made an honoury Brummie for what he did at Vickers, Castle Bromwich during the war.
@@muppetrowlf1473 Alex Henshaw is the only pilot known to have performed a barrel roll in a Lancaster bomber, a feat that was considered by some to be reckless or impossible due to the aircraft's size and relatively modest performance. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alex_Henshaw)
@@NicholasWarnertheFirst There is always one loudmouth, crude Remaintard muppet and you proved the point. This is about brave and skilled pilots, war heroes and remembrance. Nothing else. Oh and by the way Brexit was a democratic decision. 'Little Englander'? When the vote was by the whole UK? ... So are the SNP 'Little Scotlanders' professor?
Most of the nine plane teams have variations of the same formations the difference with the Red Arrows is the colored smoke & some of the opposition moves.
Watching this makes me miss airshows. The spit 9 was generally considered to be the best of the Spitfire line. To be a member of any aerobatic team, whether it be the Arrows, Thunderbirds, Blue Angels etc. you have to be the best of the best. For those of you who don't know, the Hawk is the RAFs advanced trainer, which can reach about 700mph in level flight. The Blue Angels use the F18 Hornet, which is about twice as fast, and the Thunderbirds use the F16 (roughly the same). So the US teams use faster aircraft, but the british use more ;-).
Medium speed trainers are probably better aircraft to use simply because the public get to see more of them and, of course, they are more manoeuvrable. I would have loved to have watched the thunderbirds when they flew the f4 though!
Do plan a visit to the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum at Mt. Hope airport, near Hamilton, Ontario. See the fabulous Lancaster WWII bomber and many other great vintage aircraft. Worth the visit. Take a look at their great website.
I live in Lincolnshire in England which is nicknamed Bomber County .We have a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight just up the road from where i live, it includes the Lancaster a Spitfire and a Hurricane im probably lucky enough to see at least one or all of these planes flying over where i live 3 or 4 times a year. The sound of the "Lanc" has to be one of the best sounding aircraft ever !!
@P J Yep both great at the job they were designed for ,The Spit as an interceptor and the P51 as an escort. both loved by their pilots why people need to have so many pissing contests over them escapes me
BTW, Also, Here is a fascinating Documentary Interview ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--u16fuQRHRg.html I produced of: Paul Haglin, the Founder and Developer of Spirit Of Saint Louis Airport! Nothing like watching a spitfire in the flesh. This pilot tho is a bit shit compared to the one I seen flying over my town :) a much better performance and I will remember it for rest of my days. Came round twice but it was amazing what moves he did made that spit move.
