Here is a very special film to commemorate Flt. Lt. Mark Long achieving his PDA to display the mighty Eurofighter Typhoon at UK airshows in 2016.
Although I will point out that THIS IS NOT the PDA display itself, but features shots of the aircraft doing it's day to day business around the home base of RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire, followed by a mix of the display from the 1pm and 4pm displays on 19th April 2016. Then the video ends with a special slow motion sequence of highlights of 4 of the practise displays I have seen, including the one in "GINA" - the now legendary camoflauged Typhoon jet loved by enthusiasts the world over.
Also the display itself features information about the manoeuvres to explain what Mark is demonstrating (obtained from the display ribbons on the RAF Typhoon website!)
This video has now been included on the official Facebook page of the RAF Typhoon Demo Team.
Sadly, since the release of this video Mark was sadly killed in a take-off accident - flying one of the BBMF Spitfires 8 years later.
Hopefully this video will act as a suitable memorial of a great pilot who truly engaged with the public like no other Typhoon demo pilot before or since. R.I.P. Mark - you will never be forgotten by all who saw you fly.
