As part of the much anticipated return to the airshow scene of the RAF Typhoon aircraft: (this year again flown by 2009 display pilot Scott Loughran & provided by No.6 Sqn. from RAF Leuchars in Scotland, in its' final year as an RAF base before it is handed over to the army) - Here is the first of a 2 part build up to the 2012 season.
The next part of the build-up will be a roll of honour, featuring all the previous RAF Typhoon display pilots and their best moves they brought to the display.
Here on this video is the superb 2008 demo flown by Kiwi RAF pilot Charlie Matthews from the Kemble Airshow.
As well as the display itself, this video gives us the chance to see the aircraft ZJ910 being warmed up by the unsung heros (the groundcrew) in preparation for the flight itself.
The first half of this display is very much a demonstration of harnessing the excess power of the Typhoon aircraft, and contains a very low speed cuban 8 manouver, where Charlie gives the photographers a very good chance to get excellent shots, before powering away vertically. The second half of the display contains more high speed action.
Charlie Matthews became one of the first RAF Typhoon pilots to reach 1000 hours on the Typhoon in late 2013.
