Rafa looks up to Federer like an older brother. I almost felt sorry for Rafa being so shy and not allowing himself to fully enjoy his winnings out of compassion for Federer. So that Roger did not feel worse than he already felt by losing. And Roger is like that older brother that looks at his younger brother getting taller than him, mocks him a bit but is very proud of his little brother :) I think, why we all love and admire their relationship is because they both are very hardworking, talented, and humble people. They truly love the game and give 100% in each match, whether they are playing against the weakest player or a champion.
It is an absolute honor to have been part of watching this beautiful friendship grow...and it is all based on their beautiful respect & enjoyment of each other as tennis players & individuals.
The best part is how they are good friends off the court, it makes their rivalry even more special and unique. Blessed to be part of this era to witness them! 🐐

It was interesting to see how early on Rafa seemed to annoy Roger slightly. Roger got frustrated at RG 2005 and Wimby 2008 because he knew his backhand wasn’t good enough (also Miami 2005 and Wimby 07 but for different reasons). But then gradually he seemed to enjoy playing Rafa more and more even if he had tough losses
it's interesting to me, they've played exactly 40 and their last one was wimby 2019, a rematch of the 2008 classic.. Federer getting revenge to cap off a losing but highly contested rivalry, I hope and think they'll play at least one or two more, but this is poetic in a way no doubt

Rafa was the one who showed to the world that Federer is beatable. Just like Joe Frazier showed to the world that Mohd.Ali was beatable. They were both FIGHTERS !! They wore their hearts on their sleeves.

Total respect from Rafa , even if he beats Roger he still says Roger is the best. Shows the respect to his rival as Roger paved the way and stamped his name in history and Rafa never took that away from him once. Same with Roger always acknowledge Rafa as a champion too , there's enough room up the top for both of them,.
*Forget Conners, forget McEnroe , forget Borg and Laver and even Djokovic who is regarded as best but never played against the talent of Federer and Nadal every week. In another time Nadla would be unbeaten and so would Federer but they found each other and history was made.* _They always met and played constantly...in the finals_ These two men are best ever.
