Field Trip--24 March 2014--to a Rafter Beekeeping community, for trainees from Phnom Kulen... Part of a Beekeeping Project funded by Shining Hope Foundation and implemented by Bees Unlimited, for the Archaeological and Development Foundation.
A couple of the colonies--one of which was preparing to swarm-- were harvested in their entirety, due to their close proximity to some on-going slash-and-burn agriculture...

why nobody learn this people how to move those bees in modern hives ? I love the traditional way of making things. I respect that they doesn't kill the hive.

Anca Eliza I would love to raise my bees like this. I have modern hives . I live way north. Temperatures can be -20f for weeks. I wouldn’t know how to protect them.

they don't stay in 'modern hives' langstroth - those are wild bees - they don't form multiple combs

+Rachel Woodruff yeah they make the honey using the nectar :p if you ever taste nectar you'll notice it's like honey that's only slightly sweet instead of overpowering like honey

The honey is watery because they are harvesting from un-capped areas of the honey comb. The capped areas have been dried out by the bees, the uncapped areas have a high water content and if capped before drying will ferment. And honey is far more complex than just being nectar.
