The crazier this world gets, the more I suspect this song has such a deep underbelly meaning. We all know how corrupt this world is and are learning more each day on the puppet masters pulling the strings. Especially in the intertainment industry. The occult symbolism in this song leads me to believe the message is telling me that two singers who perhaps have known the darker side of the industry is saying they no longer fit in, they are awake and more aware of the evil side that pulls the strings. The wolves guarding the stage, the all seeing Owl keeping track of them and watching their every move. Coupled against the wheat background. Wheat is the Great Awakening and renewal. Where society pulls back the curtain on the occult and now when the lights go on they don't belong anymore. They want to be anywhere but with the dark side. Anywhere but there. In the beginning he says "before we ever knew the fear of being bold", to me that means the lashing they get if they speak up and have their own voice. Listen again through this lens and see if you are picking up on this theory.
I believe every one has felt this way from time to time. Everything about this is simply perfect!!!! It "gets" me, every time i see the video. I have probably watched it 20 times already! One of the most beautiful, heartfelt, and "right on the money" songs i have heard in a long time.This also goes to show that a song and video does not have to be very lengthy, or have to have a ton of lyrics to be oh so powerful!!
