No other artist has taken carnatic raagas to the masses in these scales and intentions. Leaves even individuals with little musical knowledge glued to this programme most suitable for the u-tube era.....pranams..
Accidentally I viewed this small video. I do not have any comments except to say, that tears were flowing from my eyes and I was totally immersed in the explanations with the melody of Dr. Charu. God bless her
My grandfather will sing songs and now I am recollecting those days. Learners each and every one should listen to this to gain knowledge. Thanks for sharing.
Wonderful maam. Was literally breaking my head why these 3 ragas sounded alike till watching this. Why have you stopped this thread ma'am? Please post more. Don't bother about the jobless critics. You are doing a noble job.🙏🙏

when I was in my teens 30 years ago I had a bet with a friend that nagumomu is devagandhari . he disagreed and told that this is abheri. we went to lalgudi jayaramanan sir to clear. he confirmed it as abheri and so I lost the bet. in this video you have cleared that both are same ragas. thank you madam.
What a voice maam. Neenga oru oru ragam patri sollum podhu paatu theriyaatha aalu ikku kuda aasai varum. Enna oru arumaiyaana explanation and singing. Please niruthaatheenga. 🙏🙏👏👏👏👏👏❤❤❤❤❤ divine music madam. Please thirupiyumm paadunga..ketka ungal paatai ketka aasaiyaa irukku
I am your ardent follower. I have intently listened and try to understand and appreciate the raagas in your isai payanam series. You are simply superb. Thank you a thosand times for explaining the meaning of the songs and make novice understand the raagas so beautifully. God bless you.
Charulatha ,Amma Your Rendition in all Aspects is DEVINE.The short spell of Nagumomu in Abheri touched the bottom of my 💓 &was Chocked.U made me feel like Sri Thyagaraja. God's Blessings are in Abundance with U.
This is my favorite raaga which I have been enjoying since my childhood. now I am 64 years old and still love to listen to this raagam again and again. I would love to hear the original abheri under NataBhairavi (20MK) indicated by shri Krishnan. This video by Smt Charulatha Mani is superb. Sarveswaran
Fantastic explanations.... They come from deep within. Being choked with emotion is mutual, the synchronisation of harmony is overpowering. Yet the raaga is so humble, pleading for "moksha" to the almighty , the infinite , the insatiable. Madam, you are such a good teacher.
Loved your Raaga videos Charulathaji, now this acts as my Bible, watching this for 10th time or so, how emotional you felt when singing the sangadees of nagumoo song, really inspiring and enjoyable to watch these videos
Beauty of the sound of the violin is so touching.I feel that he is actually singing himself.People concentrate only on the singer but hardy appreciate the exceptional skill of the violinsts. No doubt C M is very knowledgeable and musical indeed.
ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING REVELATION OF ABHERI WITH ITS FINEST NUANCES. SHE IS A BORN GURU PAR EXCELLENCE. I UNDERSTAN NO WORDS; BUT, THAT IGNORANCE OF DID NOT HAMPER MY FEELING OF ELATION AND FULFILMENT. I AM A BENGALI IN THE OCCIDENT FOR OVER FORTY-FOUR YEARS - THAT IS ABOUT TWO THIRDS OF MY LIFE. YET, I WISH TO OFFER HER MY MOST RESPECTUL NAMASKAARAM. I WOULD HAVE LOVED HER TUTELEGE OF BOTH NORTHAND NORTH INDIAN MUSIC IN UNISON. I KNOW, SHE HAS IT ALL. MAY GOD US, BY BLESSING HER..
I could understand the intricacies of the link between Carnatic music and the super hit Tamil film songs. Your explanations and expositions are mesmerising
Nagumomu ----All time favourite-----Very beautiful rendition. Thanks Maám .Its so nice to see your heartful service to Classical music. Am seeing all of your videos. All are so nice. Your way of of explaining the raagas and renditions are heart touching. Glory to St. Thyagaraja who had shown the way to mankind to reach the LORD. JAI SAIRAM.
Excellent rendition. Amazing voice. You are teaching as if you are teaching a child. I could easily grasp the nuances of ragas. I have covered all your Isai Payanam. Only people like you can take carnatic music to mass. Pl. keep it up.
Charulatha garu, I am just listening your teaching.......... I cannot, but, appreciate you because you are the best Carnatic Music teacher I have ever come across. What ever the language of the song is, your pronunciation and the SOUL of the raaga is being perfectly expressed. Your students are blessed. Being myself a Teacher, I could find best teaching skills in you. This is Bharath from Kadapa of Andhra Pradesh
Dr Charulatha Mani The episode on Abheri or Karnataka deva gandhari..was an excellant exposition of the Ragha such that even persons like me who don't know karnatic music could enjoy and got educated on the Raga and may be able to identify the raga in future...It was educative and entertaining... I appreciate the feel with which she conducted the programme. May God bless her with many more laurels in future
I loves this ragam. But You explained much about this, that I never heard before. Your attempt is very succeed because of your explanations touched my heart. Thank You
Wonderful explanation - Increases passion towards compositions and increases knowledge of ragas and the mood. Every music learners must watch this. Thank you for uploading.
I know Telugu a bit and the lines were giving a sense of loss but many artists sing it as a pleasure song. I thought I was wrong. Only today I got it clarified by Madam. Great and tks.
Your articles in 'The Hindu' are well written and inspirational. I am amazed how you cover the journey from ancient Tamil paN system to Thyagaraja, and bring out the ragas from Ilayaraaja.... Then you give a Northern equivalent....God bless...I would like you to bring out ragas in Thirupugazh and devote a sliver of your time for Thiruppugazh
Awesome... time that music is taken to the masses via linkages to the famous tamil songs.. wonderful explanation,,.. more power to you in your quest to demystify the intricacies of our rich classical heritage!!
Dr Charu katha Mani is excellent Artist with very good knowledge on theory as well as rendering minute aspects of relevant ragad and songs. All the best in her life. DSN
MAESTRO Ilayaraja used Abheri in the SOULFUL "Naadham en Jeevane" from the movie Kadhal Oviyam, sung by the legend S. Janaki. Also, the evergreen classics "Ennai Thottu Allikonda", "Poove poochudavaa" and the EVER-popular "Guruvayoorappa", the super-CLASSICAL "Chinnan Chiru Vayadhil" and many more...........
Please visit Charulatha's blog. Links to all the earlier Raga's Journey posts are included. See the "Aspects of Aberi" post, which embeds the film songs in Abheri and audio clips of Abheri kritis. Also see Isai Payanam DVD4 full video featuring Abheri (see link in video description)

Delightful even though nagumomu was short. Good diction and such overwhelming is the bhavam Charu. Good hoping more and more from you. I was traveling in Vienna and after La Traviata opera i ended up having a talk there and to my surprise as were speaking Indian classical music the gentleman simply showed me your videos. You have good reach to take music to even Carnatic illiterate :-) I felt like sharing this. He could have showed me several other videos or musicians but it was such moment he ended up showing your video search and asked is this Indian classical music !!
Super explanation. In cinema this raga was taken to inspire audience. Maname kanamum by M.S.madam in Savithri,Isai thamil nee seitha arunchadhanai by Sri T.R.Mahalingam Vaarai nee vaarai in Maathiri kumari, Singara velane Deva Vaarayo vennilave in Missiamma Nadham en jeevane, kannodu kanbathellam and somany. Super raga . Super explanation 👍🎂
Madam unimaginably excellent.Ur voice, emotion, pronunciation, meaning are all exemplary.Pls do the same with each ragam.Pls mention and sing film songs in these ragams also to motivate carnatic music in common man like how Shankarabharanam movie did. Whats the difference between bimplas of hindusthani and abheri of carnatic?
Still now I quite affaried of Carnatak music, because I don't understand. Here she demonstrated the rag very nicely. I enjoyed very much. It is excellent. Thank you beti, God bless you.

Hats off to Charulata mani. One understands the gruelling practice she has gone into and the ease with which her explanation ran is superb. For my part I learnt the subtleties and naunces of this great raaga. blessings tvbkmurthy
ATHI PUDDHISALI !!. In depth sagaram knowledge in Carnatic music. Non-sustainable/ non consistancy in the same field makes her kept in dark for few years. Anyhow outstanding performance, treasure for Carnatic music field.
