@@awesomelikeapossumThey were already fighting a lot by then. Zack took the music very seriously so maybe seeing the bassist acting like a goofball didn’t sit well with him.
@@jeffbenjamin7186 Idc really. Pretty corny all of it. It's why Tim Cumberland(RATM bassist) did that. Music had become corny/cheesy ever since late 90s. Been that way ever since...... (NIN's/"The Fragile" & STP/"No.4" were 2 incredible albums that came out in 99. Thank God for them)
My room mate had this on tv back in 2000, I wasn't really paying attention then I heard him laugh and say one of the member of rage just climbed onto the stage set. I'm glad he did so that I got to witness this moment as it happened. Tim is a legend.
I'm still baffled as to what pissed off Zach so much about a banal, childish stunt that treated a whole corporate affair like the meaningless joke it is.
because Zach and Tom apparently asked him not to do it, and he did it anyway. broken trust. and they all knew that this is the kind of stupid thing that people would still be talking about 30 years later, even though it's a dumb thing to talk about--what a waste, really. personal disrespect, internal, small scale, but if you don't listen to your friends, if you don't listen to your band when it comes to getting arrested, what faith does anyone in the group have in all kinds of other decisions the group has to make
@@dacreamofthecrop The sheep keep jumping on the bandwagon. RATM sucks but nobody ever says shit because there was never a bandwagon for hating on them.
This is amazing - in retrospect I actually support him doing this to shake up what is clearly a well-rehearsed, well-dressed corporate affair (I think Moore states in an interview somewhere, as they announce nominees the camera crew is already “en route” to where the winners sat before they announce the winner which gave him the time to make his move) I know that Tom and Zack were pissed and may be a childish thing to do on the surface, but I think in this was an excellent statement. No one knew what to do or say while Limp Bizkit just kept spewing out the cool buzzwords of the early 2000s completely thrown off. Beautifully done, Timmy C.
It was well rehearsed so people at home could enjoy it, and because tv shows have huge teams of people employed that need to orchestrate things so they work smoothly. Is sitting in a structure, so that people working hard to earn money are bothered and have to work extra hard (after already working hard to make sure the show was going smoothly), an example of “raging against the machine?” Or is it just childish behavior that doesn’t take into account the humans at play other than limp Bizkit, who are apparently evil because they used slang.
He was raging against the machine(in this case the award ceremony.) But he was mocked and ridiculed by the machine. But he did rage. Probably why the machine didn't award them because the machine doesn't like to be raged against. At the end of the day they are both average/shit bands in my opinion. But I am a huge fan of Audioslave which is RATM with a different singer and songs.
limp bizkit is so unique..... in their world they are really hated, all other bands from same genre hates them , the band members hate each other and yet..... this project somehow managed to be a solid memory making epic ass music generator ....
I don't think they hate each other. Wes just got fed up, took a hike, cooled off and came back. Sam and John are cousins but maybe they don't get along at the Thanksgiving table. But I think L.B. refused to kiss ass to everyone else. That's why they were hated. L.B. did only what they wanted to do and non-conforming bands are always hated. The real fucking sell outs were everyone who hated them! Fucking hypocrites! Fuck them! L.B. is awesome, especially Borland.
Limp bizkit gets a lot of shit but they’re a decent band. Not all of their stuff is good, and they definitely throw too much shade like they’re one of the greatest, when they’re not lol That being said I still like em I feel like some people just don’t try to listen to more than their only known songs
Limp Bizkit a band that destroyed all the records of those times, all the rock metal bands wanted to sell a little of what Limp Bizkit sold, they only had envious the Metallica drummer is one, saying, "I don't understand how the people might like that band ", because Metallica had released records, videos, a complete failure, Limp Bizkit in metal and rock, Cypress Hill in hip hop, rappers, rockers, who changed the business.
Eminem had his lyrics read in CONGRESS over how graphic they were. He was Public Enemy #1 in terms of censors. Rage WISHES they were that hated by the government
As much as I love Zack and Tom, I still don't understand why this pissed them off so much. Even if you didn't understand what Rage was truly about, you knew this man was raging against the machine. The corporate machine. I get it, Zack and Tom didn't want to look like crybabies for not winning. But I don't think that was Commerford's problem. I think his problem lied with the brainless corporate machine that thinks Limp Bizkit is better than Rage, when Limp Bizkit is busy talking about nothing while Rage has plenty of important things to say. I think they've came to terms with everything, because they're back to touring now. I hope they continue to tour, and maybe even make some new music. I'm not keeping my hopes up, but it was amazing to see them live.
@@EvilDeadRecordsVideo lol you must not listen to their lyrics or something. They’re not against music awards, they’re against systematic oppression and other civil rights issues. They’re not just some punk band being counter culture for the sake of being counterculture, hating anything mainstream simply because it’s mainstream. 🤡🤡🤡 Plenty of their shows have been benefit shows, where proceeds are donated to a cause they care about. You have no clue what the band is about, and you’re trying to talk shit. Clown 🤡
Yes, saying important things, like idolizing terrorist groups amd dictators. Meanwhile, limpbizkit is still headlining festivals, with the original line up.
@@clothbooster okay bud, we get it, you’re a right wing idiot. You think fucking everyone below you is the way to go. You’re blissfully unaware of social injustice and inequality, and how problematic it is. Limp Bizkit is a good band, but if you think they make more meaningful music than Rage, then you’re the one eating the Limp Bizkit at the end of the circle jerk with your limp dick. Limp Bizkit megafans are just a bunch of Chad’s with no respect for those around them. I mean, just look at what happened at Woodstock ‘99 when Limp Bizkit came on. Destruction of property, people injuring others, rape, etc…
the VMAs now are a popularity fest of just hip hop and electronic artists with "SJ" messages..when the rock dudes dominated it? it was a cant miss every yearfor the shit they would pull
This reminds me when my Cousin Tim Commerford was 12 years old and he climbed up our Grandma's tree and he was complaining about all the flying bugs on the apples on summer when we both were visiting her in Benton Arkansas. That was the summer when we both almost got hit by a Train when the car I borrowed died on the second set of railroad tracks and he was yelling so loud that I didn't hear the train coming. Thank God someone or something pushed us off the tracks.
I'm just gonna say, like someone from South America (Venezuela), that see people still defends this sht about the "against the system" is so crazy... This is not real, this was just a show. I like both bands. Race is so freaking amazing band but wtf, we need to stop defends this crap. We are who still be hungriest and keep dying. This was a cool moment in that context, the real life it's hurts. The socialism is just a piece of sh1t. All this is just bullshit!
RATM are some of the most pretentious and hypocritical cringelords I've ever seen in my life. (Do not mistake this comment as being in support of Limp Bizkit or Fred Durst.)
Do you feign suicide everytime you lose a contest?? This guy looks like an attention seeking little bitch, but that does fit in with every song RATM ever released, so...........
@@drivingmemad7640 He should not be upset that his band lost the award to Limp Bizkit. Tim Commerford and the rest of Rage Against the Machine's band members are pretentious people whose music just appeals to pseudo-intellctuals and Communists. RATM was charging their fans 500 dollars to attend their concert, and Tom Morello was humiliated by a small restaurant simply because he could not make his way into the building (it was crowded). The hate for Limp Bizkit is unnecessary, and the bass, riffs, and drumming are good, it is only Fred's lyrics that are immature, but his lyrical rhymes and singing are decent.
These comments are embarrassing. Sitting on top of something is raging against the corporate machine? At what point does the fact that hundreds of thousands of people were enjoying this show come into play? How is something that brings enjoyment to so many people part of “the evil machine,” and why does sitting on top of a structure do anything to end this “machine.”
