Hens actually lay unfertilised eggs, and those are used for food since they aren't fertilised. It may or may not come back into the plot, depending on what gets animated from the manga.

I think the egg thing is that hens will lay eggs whether they're fertilized or not. My family has 3 hens and no rooster, but they still lay generally every day if they're happy. I guess if the the laying hen is doing it with her eggs it doesn't matter in their society

idk if anyone else already explained it but, eggs are an exception because hens lay them like ALL the time, the eggs only become little chickens once they're fertilized by a rooster, but again hens lay them regardless if a rooster is present or not. Cows on the other hand produce milk only while pregnant (dairy cows have to give birth at LEAST once a year). I hope that clears some things up!

The egg issue is interesting. I'd interpret it as a cultural norm in this society that egg eating is acceptable, maybe a compromise between herbivores and carnivores as well. Eggs aren't inherently baby chickens as long as they're unfertilized so I imagine that's where the acceptability comes from. And hens would produce them regardless so why not use them. There must be a range of opinions among hens with some like the one we met taking pride in their eggs and some feeling weird about it. Puts chickens in an interesting position for sure. Milk is a product of pregnancy and meant for babies so that's a whole other thing.

The part with Legom comes from the maga and is not a filler. Legoshi's secret is not the sandwich, his real secret will probably be revealed in season 3 (in the order of the manga it should have happened in season 2) only Jack knows Legoshi's secret

That wasn't filler. That was an actual chapter in the manga. Also, the eggs aren't fertilized so they won't hatch into chicks so they're fine.

Houseki no kuni is an amazing body horror anime that was made by the same person who made beastars, it’s something I think you would truly enjoy knowing your personality. I think you would love it, they are made out of quartz and stone gems their bodies, and they’re constantly being hunted and harvested by these beings who live on the moon it’s weird, but I think you’d love it

OK to Explain The Eggs Thing. Those are infertile Eggs that they are eating. Chickens don't only lay eggs with a Chick in There. These Eggs are more like Periods for them. They still lay eggs if They are Well fed. If The Chicken is not Fertile the egg with not have Sperm in it, so I belive these are those eggs. Still kinda weird but You are not eating another Life here.

I think you’d really like houseki no kuni maybe try in the future it’s real good anime, it only has one season sadly, I believe it was made by the same person who made beastars
