Totally agree saying that no one else in that room full of directors wishes they could make a movie good enough to be nominated for 13 Oscar’s is wild. Everyone does, everyone would aspire for that greatness. Anyway love the podcast keep up thr good work both of you.
If Nolan doesn’t win for Oppenheimer I’m gonna be mad. Oppenheimer deserves all the statues possible! (Side note, if I winn the contest I’m getting an original Oppenheimer poster. If I don’t win, well then I’m 200$ poorer and 1 poster richer😁🎥🍿)
I think a lot of the hate Bradley Cooper got resulted from what was seen as a put down towards Cillian Murphy, when he remarked that he he didn't just get a call and then have 6 months to work on it! In a year when there was so much love for the humble Cillian, this was really bad Oscar campaigning!😢
The fact that Colman Domingo and Bradley Cooper were nominated over Leo and Efron is insane, nothing against Colman and cooper, but I thought Leo and Efron were miles ahead of them
Can't believe that you guys have not seen "Bridge on the River Kwai" ln 1957 it won 7 Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Cinematography and Best Actor for Alex Guinness.
I've listened to a lot of classical music and people pm RU-vid that know a lot about the style. Bradley Cooper may have been infront of the orchestra moving his hands like an octopus in a washing machine, but he isn't conducting them for all of it bc he isn't pro but he puts bernsteins energy into the performance. Still really respect the passion he clearly has. Don't hate it as much as everyone else but it is the clearest example this year of an Oscar bait film this year
Hearing yall talking about 90s NBA just made me sad. The league just ain't the same, but great picks guys. I think you guys were very fair and I understand all the decisions. Alexander payne deserves a best director nom
It's likely that I enjoyed this video more than I will enjoy the Oscars. I haven't seen many of the nominated films. But I devour a lot of content about movies, with Raiders of the Lost Podcast being my main go to. I pretty much knew what you were going to pick in each category. The only real surprise was for Lead Actress. I haven't seen any of these performances. But I was still surprised with your selection of Emma Stone. I can't agree or disagree, but this is the performance I most look forward to seeing. But I would be surprised if she wins at the Oscars. The only issue I took with your analysis, was the omission of Greta Gerwig for Best Director. Turning Barbie into a movie that wasn't for kids and making it impactful? Watching Variety's Directors on Directors with Greta and James Cameron gave me a new perspective on this film. To see someone as prolific as James Cameron keep steering the conversation from his work back to Greta's movie about Barbie? Give our girl some love! UNSUBSCRIBE!
