Your movies are remarkably clean and you got a pretty good coverage. I couldn't afford that much movie film in those days!

An interesting long gone aspect of past railway activities in Toowoomba during the transition to the diesel locomotive era.

Man that place had a big change, the white warehouse is bunnings, we got large concrete, hard log and steel bridges and last of all, no trains hardly ever shunt or come past the station. They even tore down that factory and now have a Huge disused flour tower thing, im sure they'll tear it down when they got the money

Just wondering if by chance you managed to capture actual coupling up of screw coupled wagons? I would love to see how the shunters swung the coupling up onto the hook. I am grateful for my brief Steam workings out of Toowoomba, even if it was only for QR Heritage. It would've been an effort to work Steam hauled goods up and down the range. Thanks for posting. Cheers Adrian.

I did capture one example at Sarina in a video at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HbUuJNsvuVU.html I guess though that this was the more unconventional way of doing it.

@@reidgck Yes that's probably the easier way of coupling the engine onto a wagon, But not really what I meant as far as swinging the coupling. I think QR has done a good job of disposing of any footage they may have had on the subject as it would show how precarious it was for the shunters (Breaking every WH&S rule in todays world) You have certainly done A Great Job of capturing our history. I have footage, but due to it's nature and fear of losing my job or the jobs of others, I am unable to post it at this time. However, when I can I will. Please feel free to go have a look at my channel. Cheers Adrian Nettlefold

I shunted in Toowoomba for 4 years, coupling the wagons is all about timing if you miss you let it go or the weight could drag you over the buffer.
