thanks for the tips i’m thinking of building some Plywood holding tanks to be used in a Engine Room on a boat for a variety of liquids and i want a easy to make system to check levels on Motor homes and travel trailers i’ve owned they used Electronc sending Units and those always appeared to have some failure rate so i wanted to go Simple and very reliable FYI the tanks basic shape and exterior will be Plywood but the interior will be sealed with a Marine Grade Epoxy to seal it from leaks the Exterior will be Fiberglassed and Gelcoated for some reinforcement but mainly to keep a clean tidy looking Engine room i’m glad you used PolyCarbonate tubing even though mine will be protected by a metal guard.s i didn’t want to use glass that could break under rough seas

I LOVE this idea! Thx for sharing! A few questions ... 1. Was the sealant/glue necessary? 2. If answer to #1 is "yes", would silicone work as an alternative? 3. Is there anything you'd change if you were to do it again? 4. How has it held up over these past 2 years?

This is a great idea, however couldn't you have used a 3/4in. union vice the compression sleeve? Or maybe the reason it wouldn't work is because you would have to use some type of sealant for the polycarbonate to seal to the PVC union?

Is it necessary to cover tube with foam protection. Because in over the roof tank it's not possible to uncover every time

This is an awesome setup, and I am already ordering the parts! Quick question though... The clear tube has a 1" outer diameter, but the coupling if for 3/4"... How does it fit? Thanks!
