In both well and city water situations you will not get good pressure unless you tap into your water system without using outdoor water faucet. You will need to split the 6 heads into two-3 head zones which will give you better pressure. Unfortunetly you'll need to purchase extra tubing and another timer to make this work. Very dissapointed after spending hundreds of dollars on rainbird system just like this one.
@benicia21
@benicia21 4 года назад
on a well. how do you recommend tapping into the water system without using the faucet?
@realdestr0yer
@realdestr0yer 2 года назад
Not true. I'm on city water and have 16GPM. My setup is 8 heads total and it works flawlessly to cover 6,000+ft². Although, I'm an Engineer so I understand Physics and took such into account building out our scheme for distribution line distances, head positioning, and coverage areas.

@@realdestr0yer Can you help me understand why they say only three heads down one side of the barbed T? I just want to do a straight line of 4 heads. That should work as long as I’m getting the recommended pressure off the faucet correct?

This is only 1/2 diameter system....I have 17gpm coming out of my hose faucet...is that too much for this system?
@e50

The tubing only „takes what it needs“, so even when you have much flow rate, it will not break the system. High flow rate might actually be better for future extensions.

My experience with this system - DO NOT BELIEVE the Manufacturer: Here's what I took the time to write on Amazon: It would take me an hour to document all my struggles with this - Loved it first summer - honeymoon era. Trencher took a day to put in. Layed out with a T and 3 on each side. Water pressure in 75 with 6GPM. 2nd summer sorta ok, still happy to have in ground. Last summer, had to pull up head after head to get them to go. This summer, it just ain't working. No there is no leak. Have changed every head, found Orbit's work better and I believe more durable. I changed - all heads multiple times, new timer, TWO new FCKIT's (great name for their Faucet Connection, should be the name of the whole kit)), in and out and in with pressure reducerS (plural), hook hose directly to it bypassing timer., dug 2 2' holes in my lawn, replace end drain. Finally got out the sprinklers mid August and got my lawn green again. Yeah it was green around the heads where the water gurgled. I've bought (and returned) heads, including non rotators, at least a dozen of them. Where do I count the ways? THIS SYSTEM WILL NOT SUPPORT 6 HEADS!!! I was ready to buy an Orbit kit and start over, and destroy my lawn - again. But even if I did - I would NOT try to run more than 4 heads. To try to conclude, I finally stated digging, and found the T - (just about a 12" X 4' hole) and split them and extended them. Now separate lines with THREE heads pop fine. My yard is only ~60' X 20'. I will get an Orbit Dual Zone timer like I have in my front yard, and run them at different times. And tonight is is going to rain now that I FINALLY figured it out,,, wonderful. Happy summer and nice having a desert with 6 lush green spots about 2' in diameter. "Customer service" is appalling, all those things I tried, except using Orbit heads, were at their direction - but they NEVER admitted it wouldn't run 6 heads, even today for my at least 10th-12th phone call to them. I think it MAY run 4, but if you believe their advertising and put in 6 (3X3 on a T), prepare for the honeymoon to be over not that far down the road. You should see the parts laid out on my patio, but why bother? Suffice it to say I have at least $150 in Home Depot returns to do. This is deceptive advertising, and all the great reviews you read MUST be in the Honeymoon phase. I could type for another hour, but why bother. Rainbird owes me. I gotta get back out there and fill in the holes before it rains, but I'm scared to re-bury it for fear something else will happen. They need to re-name the kit with their Faucet Kit code.
@realdestr0yer
@realdestr0yer 2 года назад
You're totally wrong saying that it can't run 6 heads. I have it supporting 8 heads. Although, I'm an Engineer so I understand Physics and took such into account building out our scheme for distribution line distances, head positioning, and coverage areas. My system runs 8 heads, spanning 6,000+ft². You're just doing it wrong, my friend.
@bloomz1
@bloomz1 2 года назад
@@realdestr0yer LOL - right, like I didn't try enough fixes including everything Rainbird told me to do in my dozen or so calls. Maybe you have a lot more flow and pressure thank I do, but my water meets their ADVERTISED requirements. So methinks you are wrong in telling me I'm doing it wrong. FWIW the longest run from faucet to far side of my yard is less than 40 feet. What I got out of this kit now after replacing EVERYTHING but the hose, is nothing but hose, everything else has been replaced. Here's what's wrong with you thinking I'm doing it wrong, when I took out the T and ran 2 zones of 3 each, it works fine. With the advertised water requirements, IT WILL NOT RUN 6 HEADS. I believe a person could do much better and cheaper by buying hose, dual zone timer and Orbit heads, and end up with a better product, like I finally have now. Destroyer, do you work for Rainbird? I didn't make this crap up, my true anecdotal experience that I hope serves as a warning to potential purchasers.

@bloomz1
@bloomz1 3 месяца назад
@@mikereid4653 I wish I did, and like I stated - I tried everything I could, until after a horrible summer I split the lines into two and got a double timer. Too bad that Rainbird wouldn't even suggest that - which could have saved me LOTS of agony - their "tech support" was a joke and they were flat dumb about it, everything they told me to do was a failure. So if you put it in and want to run 6 heads my experience may help someone.

the gears inside are probably screwed... time to replace. most likely a user error from improper adjustment, its a very rare problem with the 5000.
