After som incredible fishing in episode 5 we head south to avoid bad weather. All rivers are unfishable, and that force us to try lake fishing, which turns out to be a cool challenge!

I am also currently here in NZ fishing, like yourselves I have had mixed fortunes. However I had an excellent dry fly day 2 days ago on the West Coast near Brunner, about 20 fish to the fly and eight landed. (I struck too soon on most of them!)

@@struck2soon wow! That sounds like an amazing day! We actually thought about heading that wag for the weather window that just passed. Maybe the next one…

I'd pay to see the map😂

@@stuartSFTYou won’t get a map. It is the Kiwi ‘code of conduct’ not to publicise the good fishing spots, you need to do the research and leg-work for yourself!

@@struck2soon exploring is also a big part of it! Even tho it’s nice be put right at the honey hole some times, nothing is better than the feeling of finding some really great “unknown” fishing yourself!

Wasn't necessarily thinking extact locations, just gereral areas explored / visited.

I noticed you got silent so it was the rain. Gald you found the lake. This footage with Tuva's fish jumping is incredible. I love and hate rainbows at the same time. They are crazy acrobatic fish.. Looking forward to the next episode. Great job guys.

Yeah the rain got us, and we are still struggling with high waters! But we have already filmed episodes 8, so we get things done!

I recently started following you. Congratulations on great filming. I love watching close-ups of trout taking dry flies. Your long lens shots ate the best. Keep up the good work. On another subject. Dragon fly larvae are called "mud eyes" in Australia and NZ.

While you were reviewing that footage, that very same trout was telling it's friends to look out for that fly pattern and that it only just spat it out in time.....

When I fished NZ (with guides) taking fish trout to eat was heavily discouraged
@slowrisemedia

Yes we understand that. However in the lakes I thin it’s widely accepted

You should not be fishing with a second rod up ready to go it is illegal here in nz
@slowrisemedia
@slowrisemedia 7 месяцев назад
Really!? What a crazy rule! Never heard about it, but I will of course respect it. Where is that stated?
@jamiewaring8296

Not sure about that ?.liked to know where you got that from ? Sure you cant fish with 2 rods but why couldn't you have a nymph rig on one rod then a dry on another I know plenty of people do that .

2.3 No angler when fishing for sports fish shall: 2.3.1 Use more than 1 assembled rod and running line. I guess, you can't have one rod fixed on the bank and fish with it, at the same time fish with second rod wading. There is no other explanation. I believe you can have assembled dry fly rod and switch from time to time with assembled nymph setup. Of course it is impossible to fish one rod lefthanded and another righthanded at the same time 🙂
