I don't understand all the negative comments. It's a very rare recording of one of the better songs on Down to Earth. It's in black and white and obviously not best quality,but it;s one piece in the puzzle! Enjoy.
Very good call. Negative comments would likely be from those not old enough to have seen the band or those who are not accounting for the value of the footage itself. I saw them within a day or days of this at the "MAIN ACT "in Lynn Massachusetts. They didn't play particularly great as a band. (Ritchie was not "on" in Lynn when I saw them. (Not really here either) Bonnett was killer in terms of the quality of his voice though. I'm glad this footage exists The best solo "footage" of Blackmore is on "Tearing out my Heart" San Antonio 1984. He was communicating with aliens on that main guitar solo. The Rainbow DVD with Doogie is a really good performance too.
@@jeffduponte1418 True. Blackmores playing was terrible around this time, well for a majority of the 80’s to be honest. He started mucking around with those stupid bass pedals, and played like he couldn't be asked most of the time. Powell said he saw the drive and vision disappear from Blackmore once the Dio era ended. And I think that shows in his playing.
@@deepzepp4176 No offence intended, and I am not trying to correct what you think. I would never generalize to saying he "was terrible around this time" That is a much wider statement. I just said Ritchie "was not on" that night and they didn't play particularly well that night that I saw him. He almost didn't play at all because of the buzzing in the venue. (Some guy came out and said he didn't want to play because of the sound) These were smaller clubs at times on that tour. I loved this line -up and he has always been a favorite. I reserve the right to allow for nuance, as my words are all I have on here. I am glad that this footage exists, but something went wrong on the mix/sound on this video feed. * I saw him as early as 1978 and he was already using the bass pedals. That Cozy quote could be accurate from Cozy's view on that particular interview, but I think that too is a very broad statement. I saw him many times. The guy was communicating with Aliens at times. Just incredible. On a good night I say good luck to anyone trying to out play him!

I was there at the show trust me this does not sound like what we were hearing. It's a rare view of a great show in NJ capital theater so happy I went 😀. Just accept it as a bad recording but look at the musicians and enjoy excellence.
I believe this comment is accurate. Blackmore's feed "at times" here sounds like some dry raw feed. It is likely not the sound that everyone was hearing at the show. It's as if the Revox wasnt working or was fed through another channel at the mix. The full echo isn't there.
Bonnet: "I hope you enjoy it, I haven't..." I saw this live in Rotterdam, two months after this take. It appeared that they all liked it. But than again, a day later it was gone in Kerkrade. Some freaky episode in Blackmore/Glover/Powell existence. But hell, I enjoyed my night!
Always nice to get more material from this period. Its a weird offering though. Black and white probably means it is just a basic un mixed registration grom a guy working for the Capital Theatre. People who complain : there are several great boots around from other dates which sound great. And there is of course the Monsters of Rock, which was always a truncuated version of what was filmed?
Obviously another night when Blackmore has got his tits out. Graham did remarkably well to sing over Blackmore’s horrendous playing. One of the better songs on Down to Earth too.
I'm reading the comments and I can't believe my eyes... "the guitar is awful"... Don't use drugs when writing comments on Blackmore. Graham kicks special butt BTW!!
