Marie, my father, and I go ice fishing on a local lake and catch ourselves a decent sized rainbow trout. The next day we brought half of it into the woods and cooked it over an open fire.
Our adventure started on a cold winter morning, reaching nearly -20°C. We fished all day and got a few bites here and there, but nothing was caught. Finally less than an hour before sunset, my father and I caught a rainbow trout. We decided to bring it home with us as it was a good size to eat. The next day, Marie and I brought half of it out into the woods so we could cook it over an open fire. We started off by finding a nice area with a log bench and wood to burn. After finding an area, we cleared the snow out, and went and gathered wood for a fire. Marie made the fire with what we gathered, and after it burnt down a bit, I went and collected some cedar needles to make a light tea with. Well the tea was steeping, Marie and I prepared our fish and some vegetables and cooked it. After we ate I made some char-cloth off camera, and then we packed up and walked out ending our day trip.
