He was in silent movies.

Hardly the start of his career. This was his 59th movie he acted in! He made 3 movies in 1926, 5 in 1927, 4 in 1928, 5 in 1929, 5 in 1930, 6 in 1931, 9 in 1932, 11 in 1933, 9 in 1934, and this was his 2nd in 1935. So although he was still a relatively young man, he was already quite the seasoned actor. I've gone back and started watching all of his movies that I can find, from his first until now. I've found 45 of his first 59 films.

@@maggiemae7539 Yeah, he was in about 10 silent movies, and several of those you can't even identify which is him because he is playing some random football player, or he's a random soldier. I think the "talkies" as they used to be called, helped really launch him into stardom because he has a unique quality and tone to his voice and that along with his huge stature (for back then) and good looks really made him loved by the women and a hero to the men.

From 2 years ago, so you probably will never see this, but others might. Anyway, that isn't how it works. The only way to ensure someone's soul goes to heaven is by getting right with Jesus before death. Once you die, you are either with Jesus or you aren't. No amount of praying will change our destiny once we're dead. Pray for her soul all you want, but if she's already there, prayers are pointless. If she's not there, prayers are.... well.... pointless.

And this was his 59th movie role! Amazing career that spanned 6 decades. The Duke is a LEGEND!

You need to use your imagination to make up for the lack of detail in early movies sometimes you may have to stretch that imagination

@@johngraham5948 I make the same comment a lot of times. People expect Hollywood to show us reality. But it is Hollywood - they do not specialize in reality nor do they get details right. Usually. One way they do not get details right is the unlimited ammo every gun seems to have. I call it "Hollywood ammo." In thoses cases, yes, of course we have to suspend belief and be able to imagine that in all that gunfire, he magically reloaded at some point. Happens in almost every movie made that has gunplay.....

@@iesusegoconfidoinvobis4309 It's probably the main way he gets to be the hero, is surviving all that gunfire. We still see it today, of course. The TV series Person of Interest (2011-2015) was famous for lots of gunfire that never killed anyone or stopped any cars. The TV show Reacher does it a lot, too.

They had "shorts" that played before the movie, that would be a continuing story of Tarzan or some other well known hero. So the full theatre experience probably lasted about as long as it does now.

I wish movies were still short like this, maybe not quite this short but if a movie is 2 hours or more I start to get very disinterested

I was thinking that the movie might be set in about 1910 or so. I may be wrong. I am trying to gauge the year by the vehicle and the dress that the lead lady is wearing... Maybe even later... But I also thought that $210 was a bit high. ~Sharon

I heard that cowboys in the late 19th century earned about 1 dollar a day. By the first decade of the 20th century, 210 dollars was still a huge amount of money
