Its early March, but the soil in my raised beds is a little over 50 degrees. Time to get some early planting done. Many cool crops can be started outside now, like kale, cabbage, spinach, radishes, etc in zone 7a.

Yep, I’ve got my 12 inch tall tomato plants from seed planted out in the beds. We got too warm way too fast! Good to see you outside planting. It’s going to be a great season 🌱💚

I'm sowing radishes, spinach, and peas this week. I like to do 2 week succession sowing for as long as the warm temps hold off. We built new compost bins, so I've spent the last few days sifting compost and getting my carrot bed ready. My brassicas germinated quickly, but growing kind of slowly out in the greenhouse. Time to get them in the ground, so they can take off. Up potting nightshades in the greenhouse.

Awesome! I plan on doing some succession planting too, with the spinach and radishes. I need to build a new compost bin too, mine is falling apart! What did you build yours out of?

We used 2x8x8 ground contact treated wood. Three 4x4 boxes connected. We made 4' slats- three high, then a chicken wire "window" that is two slats high, topped with another wooden slat on all walls, except the fronts. The front of each box has 6 removable stacked slats for access. We could have used 1x8x8's, but we had some 2x8x8' left over from another project, so we stuck to that dimension. Definitely sturdy HAHA! @@oneseedoneworld

I've got seeds started inside but haven't been brave enough to put anything outside yet. We've gotten ice storms in April in the past so I have learned (?) to be patient. Maybe.

This is true. A couple of years ago I had to cover my beds in plastic 2 or 3 times due to sleet and cold that came in. Hoping we avoid that this year! Its so hard to be patient this time of year.
