Please please help me, my male rabbit went inside the female rabbits cage (7 females rabbits cage) I don't want the female rabbits to get pregnant so please can anybody help me on what to do so they don't get pregnant. Please please help me
Tried the meat rabbit thing years ago. I started with a doe and a buck. By the end of the week, my wife had them named and following her around like dogs. And the wife made it clear that there were no meat bunnies at our place. So, they lived in celibacy until they were called to bunny heaven.
Rabbits are not rodents. Not even remotely related to the rodent line. Rabbits are actually more closely related to horses. :) - Sorry John. Not trying to give you a hard time. And since making your video, you may have since learned this fact.
the rabbit cage is good, the cleanliness must be good so the rabbit doesn't get sick. also the tools for drinking are also good. good luck.your rabbitry in large garden
Love your videos! I have a year left of college then I plan on starting a homestead as a hobby until I feel I can do it full time. My only suggestion would be to save up and get a camera that can record in HD. Your videos are great! Definitely subscribing!
wow never heard that before and looked it up. I have always heard they were rodents including in school and in college . Probably few people even know this thanks.
D’Argent: the word is French, and it’s pronounced “darjen”: two syllables, no apostrophe, no T, the G is pronounced as a soft J as in other French words, “jshhh” like telling someone to be quiet.
... I was going to make a little joke but I needed to find out what the technical term for rabbit ology......n sadly rabbitology is ALL over the inter net that I can't find the technical term... ROFLAO there are times I love this world
We are in the Philippines.. And Rabbits could be a go grow .. many here keep for pets.. We need income.. Will the tropical climate be to hot and humid ? Thank you.. Best Regards
Brad from Big Family sent me to your channel. Now I understand why. What stste sre you and the rabbis in? What age do you separate baby boys from girls?
My house is on 1/3 acre in a city. We have 14 birds (6 chickens, 6 ducks, 2 turkeys), and 1 pig in our back yard. Fun, and entertaining. We had a few attacks by raccoons on our chickens in the past. The pig seems to help! I have been thinking about rabbits recently! Thank you for your videos.
I am surprised the wood around the cages is not chewed up...maybe because you provide them with chew toys?!? I have never raised rabbits but mother in law did and her cages with wood were always chewed on as were her nest boxes.
I've had rabbits for a few years now and never thought about putting sticks in the pens. Our male chews on his "hidiehole" and this would stop that. I always learn something from your videos. I also have a stinky dude in my house but I like him so I won't throw him out :-)
I look forward to following this series. We want to raise meat rabbits and know nothing about it. My biggest concern was the winters which are unpredictable here in the center of the country. I was concerned about how to shelter them. Thanks for this series!!!!!! Lee
Great video. Thinking about doing rabbits on my place but have a few questions. How many rabbits do you average producing with that one female each year? What price do you usually get for the baby rabbits? How much does it cost you to buy feed and care for all of the rabbits you raise in one year, including medicines, etc? How much actual profit will you make off those two rabbits in a typical year? Is it worth the time and effort for the money you make? I'm in a very hot climate here in central MS with summer temps last week in mid July above 95 each day and heat index up to 110 degrees most days. Don't think a solar powered computer fan is going to cut it. Is it a bad idea to try raising rabbits in a very hot climate? Thanks for any input you can give me.
Thanks again John. Real good info there. This spring will be my first on our homestead. hoping to get my work shed built in march, than chicken coop. start w chicks, than rabbits, than two hogs. Thanks again, stay safe, prepare, God Bless
My hubby is so choked because I am looking for a buck and a doe (New Zealands) for meat. I barbq-ed him a store bought one so he could try one and he liked it. But now he says he doesn't. I told him he doesn't have to do anything but enjoy the meat, he does not have to dispatch or clean them at all. They are such inexpensive meat to grow for a homesteader. Anyhow I am so frustrated. Just venting! Glad you are doing a series on them. Maybe you can help me sway him. He loves your videos, so make lots of great points for me, he'll heed what you say, as I am getting nowhere.
Brings back memories! I had a slew of New Zealands and French lops that I raised for meat and such. Kept them under a spreading oak with lots of shade and never had any problems, in the heat and humidity of florida. Can't wait to get back into it. A bad divorce can't keep a good man down forever! lol..
Please please help me, my male rabbit went inside the female rabbits cage (7 females rabbits cage) I don't want the female rabbits to get pregnant so please can anybody help me on what to do so they don't get pregnant. Please please help me
If the male was in the female cage for a long time there might be some pregnant rabbits, not much you can do about it at this point unfortunately. Keep an eye on the females and separate them if any turn out to be pregnant. Sometimes things like this just happen. We had a couple "oops" litters before. Just do the best you can....................J
found rabbit meat in grocery store bought it cuz I've been watching your videos and a couple others about raising meat rabbits. fried it up and mixed with some jamaican jerk sauce and it was sooo good. first time eating it too. now i want to breed some in the future when i get a house with future husband.
Your rabbit cages are clean, and organized. However I see a lot of people using just a metal cage for the rabbits to stand on. I would dig up some grass and put some in each cage so the rabbits have a place to stand that isn't metal. Such as a small patch of sod.
I lost one of the babies because I put a cut up pillow case in the cage for the mother to use for the nest. It got ripped to threads and wrapped around the neck.
How many are in the average litter? Do you breed them in the spring for maximum use of grass, etc, to keep costs as low as possible? Does it cost less to winter over a doe and a buck rather than buy baby rabbits in the spring?
Very awesome pointers. I was getting so frustrated with my rabbits and this definitely gives me hope. I really liked the cages and the use of computer fans run by a solar panel .
Great video. I am curious about how many rabbits were born in a year, how much meat the rabbits produce, and the price of your rabbits in your area? I really enjoy your channel and look forward to your videos.
Thank you John.I was going to send you a note and ask you about your breeding schedule, I have 3 does and a buck I want to breed for meet, but I didn't want kits in the winter.
this will be my first summer with meat rabbits. but im worried about fleas. how would i go about treating them and safely eat them? i wouldnt eat them with fleas
Bottles are fine as long as the rabbit knows how to use it and they stay clean I have used both bottles and crocks and never had any problems with ether he’s fine
well it depends Phil, if we are selling them live as breeders then we usually get about 20 a piece for them. If we are selling them already processed, then we usually get about 5 bucks a pound or so for them. J
Good info, and thanks. Do you think rabbits will do well outside in El Paso, TX? Can get to about 100 plus in the summer. We had almost a month of 100 plus this summer.
Im trying to figure out the same thing myself, im in southish texas. I know i could make an airconditioned shed, but the cost per pound would be pretty expensive.
