Sanyasi was Shankerji's answer to RK. He never approached RK or any other for work and continued his new experiments. I wish such a genius should have left film music and created his own albums.

Shankar Ji was The greatest Composer of all time. Jakishen, Ravi, Pyarelal, Kalyanji, Naushad, S.D.Burman, R.D. B. no doubt they were excellent music directors. But Shankar is genius. He is one class above them all. His songs are evergreen. The intro of each song is catchy. The melody and the tune are superb. Forever youthful. The Chorus will perfectly match with the intro. A real genius. I love all the songs composed by Shankar ji. From Barsaat to Eent Ka Jawab Phathar . His music is ahead of his time. Thank You Very Much Sir Shankar Ji. You have make the world of music cheerful and blithesome. May you R.I.P.
Evident from this video that Raj saab was remorseful of what he had done to Shankar saab. I have never seen anyone like Late Shankar Jaikishan in my entire career. They were a musical tsunami. A phenomenal pair and nobody could match them. Shankarji helped many during his heydays but almost everyone left him. I had the good fortune of seeing him from a distance at Wankhede in early 80s. He looked like a wounded tiger, but alas, jaikishan saab's demise hurt him to core and he never really recovered after 1971. Wonder why talented people say goodbye early.
Well said. Pardon me if I disagree with the sentence "he never really recovered after 1971". To me Shankar Ji was superior than Jaikshen. He did produce many good and excellent songs by going solo. Do Jhoot, Sanyasi, Chorni, Gharam Khoon, Kanch ki Deewar, Eent ka Jawab Phathar. The magic touch was still there. In fact, Sanyasi was nominated for Best Music Director Award in Film fare festival. To me it should have won the award. Unfortunately the award went to Rajesh Roshan for Julie which only have 3 songs compare to Sanyasi 8 beautiful songs. Around The World, An Evening in Paris, Pyar Mohabbat, Love Marriage & many more hit movies all music dominated by Shankar. In fact all Sharda songs by SJ were actually all composed by Shankar JI. Another fact is almost all title opening music and title songs were all composed by Shankar ji. I am not trying to belittle Jaikishen. No doubt he was an excellent composer. But Shankar is genius. My greatest composer of all time.
after Jaikishen demised, Shankar was not down. He still produced excellent songs like Do Jhoot, Sanyasi, Door Nahin Manzil, Chorni & many more. In fact he received final nomination for best music director award in 1975. Finally the jury chosed Rajesh Roshan for film Julie. What a shame!

sahi kaha. RK was a big traitor. It is a fact that RK created SJ but then he destroyed them too at the time when Shankar Ji needed him the most. RK shamelessly used SJ's old tunes in Bobby in background to add salt to the wound he inflicted on Shankar Ji
RK did not creat SJ. He took Shankar in Barsaat on his father Prithviraj Kapoor’s recommendation. It was SJ who propelled RK’s career to dizzying heights through memorable melodies heard globally. Just imagine, RK’s movies without SJ music. They would have been ordinary movies.

@@rajprasad5899 the word "manipulator " is really a very hars word to tell.. If you don't known about the artistic insight of Raj Kapoor its better you must respect him.. If Sj was 50% about Rk film success then what about Bobby 's success.. Which Raj Kapoor made without SJ. Laxmikant Pyarelal. So Raj Kapoor was artist par excellence. Beyond his time and defiantly beyond your compression.
There is one more worse person, who didn't show any tears at all, really owed her career to Shankar, not even acknowledged once, but went around praising other musicians- Lata Mangeshkar,
