Wow, being a little country boy in Kentucky in the eighties and nineties. When I came across Clarence 13x and then finding out about 5 percent lyricist like Rakim Allah and Wise Intelligent (Poor Righteous Teacher) it opened another world . Rakim 's delivery was so flawless it can't be duplicated. Shout out to Kweli and High Tech rep that Natti.

This is what hip-hop looks like.. Rakim has been one of my favorite MCs since i first heard him as a kid in the 80s, and he remains on my top-5 to this day.. What you witnessed on that stage might help explain why he's so special and central to the story of hip-hop culture and rap music.

Kweli is a legend. Rakim is a legend squared. And they went and got the legend cubed?! When Bob James came on the scene, and the love was flowing, I got goosebumps. Bob James always honored the black roots of Jazz, found inspiration and collaborations to open it up to younger ears, and that's why he is such seminal source material for Hip-Hop. I know he always used to treated the sampling of his work as a financial transaction rather than a creative extension, which is maybe the only slightly sour note (though the brilliance of his work is enough sweet to overcome that), so it's electrifying to hear that he might be collaborating directly with Rakim in the near future. Oh can you just IMAGINE?!

Facts! The band’s tight AF too! It’s rare that a band sound as good as, if not better than the studio recording. My parts were the horns in “Follow the leader”… He hit them perfect! And the bass on “Don’t sweat the technique”.. Til this day Eric B & Rakim’s Paid💵in Full Album 💿 is still the best lyrical Album of all time because the beats was fire & he had not once feature MC on it which Proved that the God MC is the best that ever done it. I also feel that Big Daddy Kane’s 1st Album along with BDP Criminal Minded, Slick Rick Great Adventures & Redman’s Muddy Waters & Nas Illmatic was great Albums because it didn’t have a lot of Features

Rakim definitely did his thing with Jazz, following in the footsteps of others Hip-Hop artists like Stetsasonic who did it prior on - Talking all that Jazz (1988).
