On paper, _Cobra Kai_ should've been the most ridiculous attempt at a reboot imaginable. In reality, _Cobra Kai_ is easily one of the top 10 best shows out right now. If you haven't watched it, you're really missing out.
I was hesitant. My son turned it on last night and we watched almost the entire first season in one sitting. Some of it is predictable, but it's well done regardless.
What? It doesn't sound ridiculous to me because I always had faith in the karate kid franchise. And don't bring up the Jaden smith and Jackie Chan version, that movie has nothing to do with the miyagiverse.
Love Ralph, He has a class and is down to earth. And Jimmy Fallon, he's a nice guy and makes his guests feel comfortable. Every time Ralph is on the show they have a lot of fun and I enjoy watching the interviews.
They did such a great job in developing the story beyond what it was, honoring the essence of the original concepts but still expanding the time and the changes in the original characters into a story that's honest and real. And Holy shit the psychologist cousin is Ralph Macchio's daughter lmao
This man is 60 and even Paul Rudd is saying "damn". The whole Cobra Kai and Karate Kid thing brings generations together in a great way. Whats better than taking the good parts from the past and tranfering them into the future.
@@modbyarturo, His real life daughter (Julia Macchio) played Cousin Vanessa during season 4, she diagnosed that Anthony's behaviour was because of the parenting skills (or lack there of) of Daniel and Amanda.
Cobra Kai is nostalgia done right. If you disagree, there's nothing I can really do about it. I'm just some guy on a computer. I think my wife is gonna leave me.
They really pulled it off after 34 years and have done a great job. The idea was great and has totally worked. Im a 48 yr old man who binged this show and only because the impact from the original movie had on me as a young kid. I loved The Karate Kid when I saw it as a kid. Also loved The Outsiders when young... Ralph was great as Johnny.
Likeable guy. I wish him, William Zabka and Martin Kove success and rekindled fame they have right now. The show is very well done with working chemistry, interesting character developments and heart poured from all of oldschool cast into it.
@@CodeNameCheese_ What @SipaZang meant is, that 1984 at the time The Karate Kid came out Pat Morita was 52 yrs old; and in 2018 when Cobra Kai came out Ralph Macchio was 56. Hens, older than PM’s age, at the time TKK was filmed. 🙂
I feel like he’s one of those rare celebrities whose fame actually is well-deserved. I 100% believed his performance of Karate Kid in the movies and still do in Cobra Kai 😊
Can you believe he is nine years older than Pat Morita was in the first Karate Kid?! Ralph is 15 years older than me, when I was a kid I and watched Karate Kid I thought he was almost a grown up, but now I think I have caught up with him in age!
Crossroads 1986- It was the best movie Ralph Macchio has ever made .. a classic with incredible music and an impressive guitar performance as if he was playing himself .. wonderful
I absolutely love the narratives the writers come up with. This show is unbelievably fun and compelling and is better than every Karate Kid move after the first one. As I heard Ralph talking I do think that a secondary movie 'spin off' in the theaters would be awesome, preferably once the pandemic sort of tapers off (will it ever?). Could easily go on for 10 more seasons.
All the movies wer top notch imo, but the show fleshes out every character with multiple facets. I was always on team johnny for movie 1, but couldn't of asked for more from the show on that front😂
I actually avoided the show for a few years. I figured it would just be fandom trash. Boy was I wrong. Happened to watch the movie (og) over the holidays, then wound up putting on the show. I have not watched a better TV drama in years. Such an enjoyable romp around my memories of years gone by. William is fantactic, so is Ralph. The chemistry, the writing, the fun. Keep up the great work fella's!
its in the same category as what if they made Back to the Future a series, Indiana Jones series, a Terminator Series, Alien movie series, Kill Bill series etc. doesn't that sound ridiculous?? i rewatched the second movie and decided to give it a shot. and i definitely do not regret it!
Yes, yes and YES. The Karate Kid franchise needs to make its way back to the big screen after the HUGE success of Cobra Kai with a Many saints of Newark style movie about a young Miyagi in world war 2
@@blinksstayfresh2524 I do not agree but it would have to be different anyway since its more like many saints of Newark in the way that it's a prequel to the karate kid movies
Yeah. I recently watched the actor who plays Kyler do an interview on the subject of Autism. Now that I see what a kind soul he is I realize that he is severely under rated as an actor.
Ralph Macchio is like a real life Danny Tanner, I swear. Just handsome, charming and squeaky clean. lol How can you not admire the guy?! He's so likeable.
@@em0_tion the only spineless pc fake is you commenting bullshit to make you feel better are you watching interviews for guest in the first place or just watching how genuine jimmy is fucken weirdo
Dude is the best. A massive part of my childhood. So pleased to see them back on the screen. I think Johnny has stolen the show with his one liners :) QUIET!
Waiting for Ralph to rip an electric guitar solo like he did in the Crossroads(1986) movie. He was awesome in it&doubt that he had faked the entire scene during that guitar duel.
@@brennank1254 Didn't Steve vai play both their parts? I heard he said that it was excruciatingly hard to mess up the final solo, the man can probably play blind
Just simply amazing, never imagine anything like this can be posible. Well this guys did it, so happy to enjoy cobra kay and the legacy of one of the most iconic martial arts movies of all time.
@0:16 Same exact smile from Karate Kid It's like he's hardly aged at all Someone needs to find out where he's hiding the fountain of youth & share some of it with us lol
"Pain does not exist in this dojo" - Kreese, 1984. "Age no exist this dojo" - Miyagi, 1984. Both dojos' students took their teachings very seriously, it seems...
It's great to see Ralph Macchio again always. Ralph has a baby face & child like innocence that goes with it always. Even though he's a grown man now, he is very much still a little kid on the inside, with a positive attitude and a good influence on all peoples always. Ralph brings so much honor..and respect to Karate' it's enormous, including with all of his work in The Karate Kid of course, but also just on the streets man, helping peoples learn how to defend themselves. My stepdad Sean loves watching Cobra Kai. I love watching Cobra Kai. My mother Melissa loves the show Cobra Kai. It's funny how Will Smith is the Executive Producer of Cobra Kai on Netflix.
Im starting to like and love Ralph like Keanu Reaves.. Dont care how they are like actors... I want more of them,... like watching a best friend movie...
This show puts to shame Star Wars TST, Terminator DF, ST Picard, Creed and all the other attempts to "pass the torch" without destroying the legacy of the OG characters. Cobra Kai is amazing.
I also want to see another interview with the rest of the cast. I’ve never seen Will Zabka, Martin Kove and the younger cast appear on a live audience show like this one yet.
William Zabka unfortunately isn't that well-known. I myself had no idea that was the name of the actor that plays Johnny. Ralph is also in My Cousin Vinny which is a classic, along with Karate Kid.
@@nahor88 I think that’s just your opinion. He’s done other things like How I Met Your Mother… Stranger Things cast hadn’t done anything prior to the show and they’ve been on these talks shows I believe. Newcomers should get the opportunity to be on these talk shows especially if they are on high demand from the younger audience to be out there so they can get to know who they are better.
