I've had 4 RAM/Dodge trucks . 1983 single cab with 318 cid V8 4x4 and kept it til 1998 had 303k miles. Then I bought a '99 extra cab 5.9V8 4x4 and had 189k miles. Then Bought a 2011 5.7 hemi 4 door 4x4 which I still have and is at 286k miles. Still running great and looks good ! Recently bou a used 2007 2500 Cummins. Love them all and I am a die hard ram guy. I did once buy a 2011 F-150. Mistake ! Engine blew up on my 2nd of ownership ! Took it bak,got my money back and went dow the street and bought the 2011 i own now. Good video because i dislike so many who bel F-150' s are great. RAM rules baby !
Just now entering my sixth year of ownership, and still happy as the day I bought my 19' Laramie. Fully loaded, and out the door for $43k. Ahhh hahaha the good old days of 2018.
@@chrisdrives8204 YUP, several! Rear window leaked, few recalls, brakes squealed all the time, manifold bolts have broken twice. My mirror motors are messed up too. It's still the best truck I've ever driven. Mine is lifted 4" and riding on 35s. I also have Borla exhaust. It's my baby TRX or my hillbilly hotrod.
2011 ram 5.7 hemi 140000 miles. No issues. Just normal maintenance. Rear window leaked i added a second drain hole to metal frame driver side. fixed that problem. Ram still drives and looks new. Keep them maintained and waxed. Last forever.
Contrary to popular belief, each manufacturer has their issues and most are expensive to fix. Overall, based on CR evaluation of data and user ratings Ram is better than Ford in terms of reliability. Ford is below average while Ram is average. Look at a similar video for Ford and GM, and you will get introduced to their “problems.”
I have a 21 RAM LIMITED I live in Australia so it’s converted to right side driving I’ve owned many many Toyotas and Australian brand high end muscle cars THE RAM WOULD BE THE BEST CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED
My 2015 ram and my current 2021 ram would be great if they came with umbrellas. Gen 4 and Gen 5 developed leaks from the rear glass seals. Nothing like spending 50k plus for a truck that’s going to have water leaking into within two to three years. Mold everywhere at no extra cost.
2020 Ram 1500 5.7 here, delivered in 2019. 12 inch screen replaced 1 year ago after going black. Now front axle disconnect actuator being replaced at 39000 miles. Wouldnt shift into 4wd.
2019 Rebel, 89k miles. I've only had to replace 2 fuel injectors. The screen has gone black a few times over the years but works fine the next time I start it. The backup camera has had moving lines in it but only a handful of times also. I think that's not too bad for its age and mileage.
For whom willing to buy/prefer the V8 Hemi: Hemi have a big camshaft lubrification design flawn (I know by experience 😢). So, around 200k kilometers Hemi tick start to occurr with fuel consumption raising year by year, until premature engine failure (usually around 200k km, due to camshaft/lifter excess wear)
@felixchien1664 I'm still driving a 2002 tundra 352,000 mi. But the new ones ain't even close to as good as they used to be. I don't gauge a trucks dependability by a mere 2 year's 😂
Tick Tick Tick...the Hemi engine is a ticking time bomb if you tend to let it idle frequently...RAM needs to fix the lack of oil lube to the lifters (over a decade old issue). The exhaust manifolds are still breaking the studs off in the block. Owners of a RAM may want to consider upgrading the manifolds before the studs start breaking. For shame on RAM for not using better stock manifolds.
Key to avoiding the tik tik is changing the oil every 3k miles. I run 5w 20 in the winter and 5w 30 in the summer. No tik tik, no type writer engine sounds.
@robertplacek7569 I run penzoil 5w20 too every 3000 miles. 2016 hemi 3.92. She never ticks never miss a beat. I never idle, even when I'm waiting for a train to pass always shut off the truck. She still rips hard!
its a shame you can’t afford to let it idle when even waiting for a train. When it’s 92 and humid that would suck to have to sit with the window down cause you don’t want to take a chance with the engine idling
I have a 2013 dodge ram, stay on top of maintenance and you should have many good years with your truck make sure you change the oil every 3,000 miles, I have a 109000 mi on my truck and the only thing that went out is the anti-lock brakes system, they will not replace it because I change my own oil. The warranties for dodge ram suck. I love my truck. Also when you change your spark plugs do not use the dealer spark plugs they suck. Try to buy iridium spark plugs or double platinum
I have a 2017 larime with just over 200k on it. Push start not working anymore, air ride drop on me a few times, rear window leaks. Exhaust manifold bolts broke a few times. Plan to trade it in for a tundra or a f150 in a few years
@@tsmith4719 It's my understanding that it's unwise to turn it off, only way I'm aware of you can even do that is with a tuner. Doing so with the computer will cause lubrication issue, if the solenoid aren't toggled then oil is not moving throughout the passage ways. I most likely did a horrible job explaining it but review videos from Reignited. There is a true MDS removal process if you want to do it right, not cheap.
Any manufacturer will have issues... Overall I think they are reliable good looking trucks ... Most people have problems I think due to heavily modifying their trucks...
Nice Video but I will stay with the Toyota Tundra because it is more reliable, some people do over 700,000 miles with a Toyota and a Dodge falls apart after 200,000 miles
I have 2019 ram classic with hemi just broke 45,000 no problems I will definitely be keeping but I’m also going for either f150 with 5.0 or gm with 5.3 not sure yet
I bought anew 2018 ram 1500 sport nothing but problems . I treated the truck like royalty use my bosses truck when needed to Load things . For nothing went to dealership change my belt next day torque converter problem Went to fix my hemi tick next day lifter hit the cam . Had to replace my engine only 130 0000 km I would recommend this truck or brand to nobody 50 year old technology 😂
Where salt is a thing on roads Chrysler vehicle get chassis and suspension rust more than other brands. I still get them but use products like fluid film to protect them.
256,000 on my 02 Silverado. Loved it but it left me miles from nowhere in the cold because of a bad shift cable. I am getting too old to fix her. Getting a used Ram,crossing my fingers, but i knew the owner babied her.
😂😂😂😂 long term reliability? Need to hold onto the truck for more than the two year lease term. My company had a fleet of rams….. never again, torque convertor issues. Italian owned same cheap truck assembled in America. Only time will tell…. Have to hold on to them for longer than your lease term to really find out what junk they are. We use GMC trucks now. Over 200,000 miles on our 2017, never been in the shop, no engine or transmission problems. Still running like a champ!
I have a 2013 ram 5.7 and it gets 16 MPG but it has 130,000 miles on it. I never got better that 17MPG when it was new. I just bought a 2024 5.7 and it gets 16.5 MPG. I have no idea how your getting 20MPG.
Geesh, my 2019 Rebel will not get over 15.8 mpg unless I drive so slow ppl are trying to run me off the road. It's usually around 15 just to work and back. Lots of hills.
It's sad that Chrysler is doing away with the V8's and going with the EV BS and the twin turbo V6 which when the turbos burn out then you have to pay a monster bill to replace the turbos.
My 2019 just reached over 105k, runs still like new, obviously I had some issues like any other vehicle would, like a missfire, (clogged injector), 4wd actuator needed to be replaced, rear window leaked so I replaced the seal. But other than that nothing major. And still looks as good as new
Sounds like problems for something that expensive you shouldn't have any NO EXCUSES and the auto workers want 41% increase in wages WHAT about QUALITY AND LOYALTY You just expect perfection If Japan can do it where is our work ethic people
Think they all have issues... only non-domestic I would buy would be Toyota but since covid, read several things where they even noted issues with Toyota. Believe most were fit and finish things but could be wrong. Wasn't overly excited they are now v6 turbo charged, most are moving in direction if not there already.
Actually if you did simple research you’d know that ram is actually more reliable then ford.. go look up videos on ram trucks with over 200k miles and still going strong.. meanwhile my buddies 2019 f150 king ranch has has to replace his transfer case, and a leak in the engine and software issues on the transmission and he’s only got 48k miles 😂
@@tylermichaud8699 yeah buddy a video isn’t gonna convince me anything and neither is your words on a screen when I’m a mechanic for a living and I work on trucks. For instance ram trx vs the raptor R.. ford takes a big stinky shit on dodge. Also I’ve seen 40 2022+ Rama with completely blown up torque converters and burnt out valve bodies, never seen a 10r80 do that 🤨
your bullshit words can't convince anyone either. First of all, you don't sound like a mechanic at all! Lol and if you know a thing or two, you should know a trx is just as capable as the raptor r it just comes down to brand preference.
I'm still driving my 2004 Dodge ram 1500 quad cab. It's got the millennial anti-theft device AKA 5-speed manual transmission and regular maintenance, occasional, minor repairs 90% of which I can do myself, and a new radiator at 130,000 miles and a new rack around the same time and it drives like new. I'm going to drive this thing forever. The only issue I have with the thing is that silly cheap clear coat they put on back then so the horizontal surfaces look like it's got eczema. 😶
Funny how Americans, a nation basically born in cars and driving for generations don't really know how to drive. Your lane discipline on highways is pitiful, drivers in cities are aggressive and selfish and overall no regard for rules and regulations on the road. Plus of course nobody can drive a manual transmission car. Everyone I know from central, eastern EU is in deep shock on how bad it actually is there.
