Thank you for making this video, I just replaced the alternator on my bosses 6.7 in an hour, your video was very helpful. I had to beat the crap out of the old one to get it out but other than that and trying to get my breaker bar on the tensioner it was very easy. It has 225k miles and still had the original denzo alternator.
Thanks for the video! I’ve changed numerous alternators in the past but never my own . I searched for the tensioner for about 20 minutes before I found your video. Every alternator I’ve changed has always be the tensioner!
great video thanks my check gauges light came on and everything looked normal except the charging voltage lets hope $200 and some labor fixes the problem :)
Just found this video. I have the same noise but can only hear it from inside the cab and under very light throttle sitting in park. At startup idle you can hear it but not when you open the hood
Not a bad video but would’ve been better seeing the new one installed as well. I’m bored watching maintenance videos so when that time comes that’s all. 3-2022
P Braun I don’t remember I know there was 2 alternators to choose from and I chose the cheaper/ lower amperage alternator. I have a plow and it’s holding up fine. I want to say it was a choice of 160amp and 220amp but not 100% sure
Never a junk alternator. Always keep your old alternator and get a rebuild kit for it and put it. Once you rebuild it put it on your shelf for when the other one takes a shit. Then install the one you rebuilt and rekit the bad one. Repeat
@@Matt-xj9us wrong. They either come with a 1yr, 3yr or a limited lifetime warranty. The limited lifetime warranty only cover manufacturer defects not normal wear and tear. So you’re better off getting a rebuild kit and doing them yourself instead of paying someone else to do it
@@Matt-xj9us also just because you buy it at the store new doesn’t mean it’s not remanufactured. Remanufactured alternators are rebuilt cores that someone else installed the rebuilt kit in for resale
@@jakewelsh1002 No Jake, I’m not wrong and I’m speaking from experience. The video is for a 6.7 Cummins engine and you can not buy this alternator locally where I live without a lifetime warranty. Your area may differ. If my alternator fails for ANY reason than O’Reilly will exchange it no questions asked, at least from my experience with lifetime warranty parts. Now, if you exchange 3 in one week than they probably will have a problem with it. Talk with your local part stores if you don’t believe me. If you don’t want to take my advise than that’s fine.
@@Matt-xj9us limited lifetime and lifetime are two different warranties. Like I said there is no alternator that comes with a “LIFETIME” warranty regardless of what engine it goes to.
Half of us are here to figure out how to not break the dozen different clips it would be helpful in the future if you explained how the releases work for me this video didn’t help because you skipped the important steps.
