I think the biggest shortcoming of the Power Wagon is the tire size. For something that massive to not even be rolling on 35's is crazy to me. I understand they are worried about rubbing while fully articulated, but I really think it would bring a lot of value to the truck and the brand on the whole to at the very least have it officially able to fit 35s, much like what they did with the Wrangler. No suspension or control arm changes needed, just throw on a bigger tire and get an alignment. I would also be willing to bet that the payload and towing rating for this thing are completely lawyer determined. For my money Power Wagon is still king of HD off-roading trucks.

Also, anybody who goes off road will quickly remove that stupid chin spoiler. That's like a plow in high clearance conditions. Leveling up with some Thuren or Carli action will help too. A lot of off-road guys are going right to 37s on these, but yes, they should come with no less than 35. The key here is that the Power Wagon is set up for these to be brought to the next level easily, and the suspension keeps the tires on the ground where traction and control is. I wouldn't take a Tremor where I take my '13 wagon.

The Power Wagon is basically a 3/4 Rubicon. Please take a minute and watch videos of it rock crawling and articulating like crazy. It can do all that and still pull 10k.

Biggest limitation of these trucks out of the box are the tires. Get some 35s 12.5 wide and drop the pressure to about 30 psi. Much love from Northern Alberta

It is all about the snow and temperature , I have been stuck in 4" of crusty snow with ice underneath, and other times pushed thru 2 foot of fresh with ease.Thats why the "Eskimos" have 100 different words for snow.

The way I see things going in this country today, Power Wagon, all the way! Heavy duty with a Hemi that doesn't need high octane, and the four wheel drive capability make this thing a beast.

Love seeing this truck on the trails! Great off road truck but it's HEAVY! You guys could benefit from some traction mats. Maybe a test in the future? I've been looking for tracks and bridging ladders. Would love to know the differences besides colors.

That Power Wagon you are driving can tow the 30 foot Airstream you featured a few months back so that's plenty of camper for me. I daily drive a 21 Power Wagon and love it, even my wife likes it and that's saying something. I don't use my truck to carry a dump truck load of coal with it, however. It will go everywhere I want it to go and that's the key. It's not for everyone but for me it fills the bill.

It's a whole different truck. The ride is great. Upgrade to 35s for an even smoother ride. I got a '19 and I'm going full 40". The seats alone feel like they hug you. As I mentioned about the ride quality even on 33s stock, rides better than a stock diesel out of the factory. I'd recommend getting one around 50k.

Great Vid. I’m on my second PW, a ‘17 after having traded up from my ‘14, and overall they’ve been pretty bulletproof. Unfortunately the running gear is relatively low, especially the rear end which is essentially an anchor, you can easily get hung up in mud and snow. Marketing materials say 14” ground clearance. At the rear dif you’re lucky to see 8.5” with stock tires.

Yeah, you get it. Sometimes doesn't come across on camera - if the running gear is dragging in the snow - traction is quickly overpowered and its time to go get the tractor.

You can air down to whatever you want. But if you are o top of the snow and tires have no traction you will go nowhere

Power wagons are cool but its almost a lie to call it a heavy duty truck. Half tons have more payload and hauling apability so how exactly is it a heavy duty? It better be the best at going off road because it can't do anything else.

You REALLY should get a Yankum rope... They are MUCH safer that a tow strap... Look up Matt'a Off Road Recovery on RU-vid.. He only uses Yankum rope. He never uses a tow strap..

If possible invest in a Yankum or Matt's Recovery Energy Rope which might have freed you even with the tractor first try and I'm with both of you in that I would pick the Power Wagon out of the 3.

Folks don't realize that they may NOT be able to tow the max their truck is rated @ because they run out of payload. They don't think about Tongue weight. I don't think their is a better off road tow vehicle than the Power Wagon. Gas H.D.'s have more payload than Diesel. Power Wagon is in a class of one. You can get a snow plow package on your Ram Power Wagon. You need some 41" tires aired down. Prospector xl power wagon. My 37's do a great job. Going to add chains. The bigger the tire the better to stay on top of the snow. Just like snow shoes to support the weight. Spread it out.

The Power Wagon is strange for me. One side of me loves it, like I love a super-car. - But if it’s my money... I wouldn’t get it, and I’m on my second RAM, so I’m firmly in the Mopar camp. If my goal was off-road, I’d get a ZR-2 or a Jeep. Or, I’d happily get a RAM 2500 for it’s impressive tow and hauling numbers. Like you said, it really comes down to choosing the right truck for what you want.

At least with lockers all the tires turn when hung up, of course. (Handy once you dig it out /down) But with torque vectoring ( kind of a fake locker ) the vehicle like my tundra can’t sense movement. So a ABS fault happens, which disabled torque vectoring. The fault clears once you move 20 feet plus/minus . But it makes digging out a pain with only one tire in the front and one tire on the front on the spinning with no traction .

I had to take a look at my door badge, my 2005 has 1721 lbs payload and is rated for 10550 towing. I love the new ones and wish I had the 6.4 but unless something catastrophic happens to mine I just don't see ever getting rid of it. It does all I have asked it to do and has lasted without a major repair. Granted I only have about 128k miles on it but still it has been an awesome truck. I will admit It did leave me stranded once though, an idler pulley failed and threw the belt off. Without the water pump turning it was getting hot and I had to stop and get a tow. It only cost me 8$ for a new idler pulley and in 10 minutes I was back up and running. Love the videos thanks for putting these all together.

As much as I like the Power Wagon and trucks like it I doubt I could get in one. I'm a big guy like the one driving, but I also have a bad back and knees. Oh well , I still like it!

You can purchase a ram 2500 tradesman with power wagon package that seats six for around 50K. Put 35 or 37 inch tires on it and pretty hard to beat for the price. I got mine with 35 inch tires new for under 50K. Something to think about.

I like the Power Wagon best. I figure it is more of a lifestyle truck and the better ride is a good thing. There are better work trucks and cheaper. I put the Rebel near the Power Wagon. Good review Howard and Steve.

You were dragging your axles, same way you dragged the skid plates on the Yukon. Snow just gets too deep for any vehicle and then either you have a way to remove it or you just aint going

Your stuck in OFF road means nothing. Try and deal with snow ON road flooding ON road you have to drive thru or as you guys prep for MUD. Try as I suggested, in Kentucky and Ohio. On road. Then you’d see Perfornance for real

Everyone makes a big deal about payload. “Truck guys” are just as soft as the trucks they drive these days. Hell, down here in the south, we load em up till dang near hitting the bump stops then just send it. Y’all stop being so weak and soft and ignore that made up number.

buy an AEV ram 3500 the true king of off road with factory warranty then slap some lockers on it. done and done. it may have a hard ride but with the ability to put 40s on it just air down

I have a question, is it true you can't use the lockers in 4Hi? Only 4Lo? If so how are the axles in 4Hi? Are they posi? open? How's that work?

Like the wrangler rubicon when the axles aren't locked they are open diffs. Pretty much every 4x4 with lockers are this way and most can only be locked in 4low. Most 4wd without lockers have an open front diff and a limited slip or open rear diff. There are electronic aides now like crawl control to help in the absence of true lockers. I dont know of any 4wd that has lockable front and rear differentials and a limited slip or posi trac when unlocked.

Why would they? It WILL get stuck, either 10 feet in, or 30 feet in with some speed. That's a bunch of layered snow, not puffy powder on a parking lot.

Good morning guys. I recommend a Kinetic tow rope. I live in the north east here in Canada and work in the woods. When stuck in snow these “stretchy” tow ropes are golden as the tow vehicle is usually on snow/ice as well and using momentum to bump the stuck truck out works

All a tremor can do better is tow more, and that’s by design. The PW’s superior off-road capability is because of suspension. Up the towing ability, and decrease articulation and off road ability. There’s a trade off. And the tech and interior of the RAM is far superior. I’ve shopped both, not a fan boy here.

How does this happen?? I know it’s not new snow do it’s been through a few freeze/thaws, but in Colorado this weekend we got 24” and my stock height f150 with duratracs (although larger than the PW’s) was unstoppable. Rear locker a few times but otherwise never a stuck. Is it the front axle drag?? Too heavy?? I’ve driven Colorado snow for decades. I’m puzzled.

Take them off road with 2500 lbs in the bed and the Tremor is smooth, and the PW beats you up, off the bump stops. Nobody buys an HD truck to run around empty. Try it on the power line.

All told, RAM really needs to up the payload. 1100# is low for a half ton, let alone a 3/4 ton. This truck should have at least 2000# of payload to make it usable for hauling and towing. Also, just a wild idea, wouldn't it be interesting if RAM went to Cummins and put the 5.0LT V8 Diesel from the Titan in this truck? No one else has picked up the v8 diesel since the Titan dropped it last year. Just sayin'.....

Ram has always be number one for power train and pulling power. There has been a saying in the automotive world “ comfort of a Ford, plushness of a GM and the power train of a Dodge you would have a perfect vehicle”. Looking at the new truck the Dodge and Ford’s are the best looking on or Or off Road. The Chev looks like a barrel of smashed butt, GMC is a little better. I know a couple of people that are GM only even the worst diesels on the market couldn’t go around the block unless it was empty.. Tow service thinks there good all have crests work for the drivers

I have this exact truck down to the color and I’m getting sick of bad drivers. From many hours of shoveling...4 high skinny pedal is the best in snow for the power wagon. 4low lockers doesn’t generate enough wheel speed for snow.

Curious if your powerwagon feels like the ride is jerking side to side driving down the road. Not pulling or tracking badly, just a side to side jerky ride. Like the caster is not right. New truck shouldn’t feel like this.

I don't really get who the target audience of the Power Wagon is. I mean yeah it might be the best heavy duty off-roader...but if you really want to off-road you don't get a full size truck. They're just too damn big. I can sorta see the audience of the Super Duty Tremor as you don't sacrifice any payload/hauling capacity, but not for a heavy duty truck who can only haul as much as a half ton...

Anniversary is probably a bad name. Commemorative would be more appropriate, honoring the inception of the WW2 vehicles.
