So far, memory upgrade went well. From 8GB to 12 GB. Keep in mind that there is 4GB Ram built into the motherboard.

Hello. Why do you unplug the battery? Can it harm something to keep it plugged in while changing the RAM?

I have a question if I upgrade my ryzen 3 3200u to 8gb ram (4/4) to 12 gb (4/8) will my gpu memory will increase to and can i upgrade i t to 20gb as it is showing max 12 but if I put 20 it will not damage the hardware

Hi, i added 8 gb of ram, and it says 4.2/9.8 GB but in the top left corner it still says 4,0 GB(in task manager). Can someone please help, or leave a link as to where i can find help.

I recently add a 8gb ram onto my laptop(Lenovo s145 ) ddr4 2666mhz. After installing i tried opening but it just keeps on restarting when I open games . Can you help me out ?

Bro. My laptop s145 has no ram stick you just removed. It has issues on blackscreens and i let the pc store fix it. It worked for like 3 months and now stuck again on blackscreen. I opened it now and saw no ram stick in it. Did they remove it? Holy shit

Yes if it’s compatible. Check your task manager > performance > memory to make sure you are getting compatible ram. I have some hyper x ram myself for a different computer that I plan to make a video on. I’ve never used hyper x before

Hi, the tutorial is wonderful and clearly explains the process. Thank you for your work! Is it necessary to disconnect the battery from the motherboard before I can insert the RAM in the empty slot on motherboard besides the soldered RAM? (My slot is empty and I'm adding a RAM in the empty slot rather than replacing/upgrading it with one already present on it) It's too tight on my device & I'm afraid I might end up breaking it or snapping it off the motherboard -.-"

It’s recommended to avoid shorting components. It’s just a precaution. It’s usually a good idea. That’s just my opinion

@@whattmeter Gotcha! Well then I'll have to try a bit harder and pull it out. I was worried I'll damage the motherboard if I pull too hard but leaving it connected is also risky. It'll be a nightmare to short something out or damage some other component while making an upgrade to my device, so will try again with a little more force and if unsuccessful will take it to the lenovo service center and ask them to do it for me. I have the same laptop with 4gb soldered ram at 2400mhz.Should i go for one more 4gb stick or for a 8 gb stick at 2400mhz.If i go for a 8gb stick would it work on dual channel because of flex mode?(i dont do gaming).

My laptop is lenovo ideapad s145-API amd ryzen 3200u with 4 gb inbuilt ram 2400 mhz but like to update 8gb ram make it 12 gb total but in online 2400 mhz ram price very high but 2666 is less so can I use 2666 instead of2400 mhz

Open cmd as admin > wmic memphysical get Maxcapacity, Memory Devices (if memory devices show 2, then you have 2 slot) keep in mind though that soldered ram also counts as a slot

I found the video. But i didn't understand the way that you remove 4gb and insert new 8gb memory but it says it has 12gb memory. How is this happening

There’s 4gb ram that can’t be removed. Only one slot with removable ram. It had a 4gm ram stick removable replaced it with an 8gb ram stick. (4gb ram no removable + 4gb ram removable). After replacing 4gb removable ram it becomes (4gb ram non removable +8gb ram stick = 12gb ram total)

@@whattmeter oh ok i got it, thank you so much. By the way can you recommend me some rams? I have Lenovo IdeaPad S145 Ryzen 3 and i have 8gb memory but the gpu takes 2gbs of it and leaves me 6gb. So i want to upgrade my memory to 12gb too.

You can check the manual. Or use cmd command “wmic memphysical get maxcapacity” it will tell you max ram. Not always accurate but good for the most part

Another way to check ram is using crucial scanner which is accurate most of the time

Question does the brand of the ram matter in laptops?

Brand usually no. Check the CL of the ram as they differ as well as the speed, and ram type like Ddr4 or ddr3. Some ram (usually high performance/high density ram) requires you to change the xmp profile to get the max speed. Most of the time though ram is pretty straightforward

abre cmd como admin> escribe "wmic memphysical get maxcapacity"> convierte los números a gb para saber cuánta memoria máxima puede manejar. También puede consultar el administrador de tareas para ver la cantidad de RAM y ranuras que tiene instaladas actualmente. ( open cmd as admin > type "wmic memphysical get maxcapacity" > convert the numbers to gb to know how much max memory it can handle. You can also check task manager to see how much ram and slots you currently have installed.)

@@whattmeter gracias este ya lo hice tiene dos ranuras segun pero una esta soldada y cuenta con un slot disponible y soporta hasta 12 gb ram segun la consola, ¿no habra problema si le pongo una de 8 gb contando la soldada de 4gb no afectara en nada?
