Ramaphosa defends bloated GNU cabinet 

This doesn't justify that the citizens must starve without jobs, accommodation, schools, etc. One minister can handle up 6 departments

Practically this is an impossible task for one. Minister to handle 6 portfolios at the same.time. Perhaps , the President could seriously look at down- sizing 42 Deputy Ministers to 22 because we have 22 government departments in the country This is the most sensible thing that one can do from my perspective.

@@KaniahNarrainsamy it's absolutely practical, I've worked for more than 20 years at national govt depts. The minister only focuses on policies (eg Water Affairs free basic water) a team of advisors and professionals develop the doc. The DG, DDGs, CDs, Directors, Dep Dir's, Asst Dir, Officers etc. do the work of strategic implementation. That's why we have ministers without tertiary education. Even you can be the minister. Over and above we have provincial and municipalities who are blotted MECs, Mayors and councillors. How much is being spent unless you are one of the beneficiaries

The. ANC with less than. two third.majority of votes in the General Elections, the President has no other alternative but to bring members from other political parties on board inorder to constitute a Government of National Unity.
